The Battle Is On

In Our November 2, 2001 issue, we told you about MSN having a major overhaul with their instant messenger. Well, it did not take long for Yahoo! to now get one up on MSN. They now have IMVironments which are interactive, themed backgrounds for Yahoo! Messenger conversations that appear directly in the instant messaging window! Very cool screens that you see as you are sending and receiving instant messages. Get your latest update (Version 5.0) at the link below.

Tips and Tricks

Each week we add a little tip to assist you in your web building. Some of the things you already know and sometimes you will come across a thing or two that you wanted but did not know where to find it. This week we will feature
"Remove Ugly Dotted Line Around Images After Clicking On Image"

Here is some cool code to get rid of that ugly dotted line that Internet Explorer places around image links when you click on them.

<COMMENT language="Javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function RemoveDot()
{
for (a in document.links) document.links
[a].onfocus = document.links[a].blur;
}
if (document.all)
{
document.onmousedown = RemoveDot;
}
file://-->
</COMMENT>

Place the above script inside your <HEAD> tag.

Or simply add this line to each link tag:
onfocus='this.blur()'
Note: IE6 has removed the dotted line all together from the browser.

This is also covered if you follow the below link.

Every week we receive 100's of different questions on Web Design, Security, Email, Internet etc. There is always one question that sticks out more than the rest. So What we have decided to do is post the top question of the week and show you how we answer it. If you feel you would like to add to the answer feel free to contact us with your input on the question.

Question
I received your newsletter and tried to send one of the linked to pages to my wife's office. I use Outlook Express and when I clicked on "File", then "Send" Then "Page By Email" She recieved the page but the links would not work. Is there a solution to this?

Well Richie, after you spoke to The Consigliere™ on the phone, we hope you got it straightened out why the links would not work. We also checked with our

SYMPTOMS

To work around this issue, use the HTML mail sending format:
On the Tools menu, click Options , and then click the Send tab.
