This is a super-easy little script that you can use to form an automatic print-page link on your site. Just insert this code anywhere in the <BODY> section of your document you want the link to display. This way your visitors can choose to print the page they are viewing. Works as a great little script as well as a reminder to print the page! You might want to add a printer icon for a graphical display.
We have tested the code in IE6.0, Firefox1.5.0.4, Opera9.0, Netscape8.1 and AOL Explorer1.2. This script worked well in all platforms with no variations observed.
Note of Importance ~ Some older versions of Netscape do not print well with a dark or black background color so............ if you have a black page as this and very light color font, Guess what? You will print a white page with white text. In other words, it will not been seen when printed. You may want to make a [ Printer Friendly ] page. An example would be a white page with black font color.
Below is the script you copy and paste and also a few little icons you can use as an image to the print this page link.
Example With Text
<a href='javascript:;' onClick='window.print();return false'>Print this page</a>
Example With An Image
<a href='javascript:;' onClick='window.print();return false'><img src="Path To Your Image"border="0" width="?" height="?"Alt="Print This Page"></a>
For your Information:
On the above attributes to define your image (height, width and border) Just substitute the "?" with the size in pixels. In regards to the "border="0". If you replace the zero with a 1 or higher, you will have a border around your image.
Please use proper internet etiquette and not link to these images. If you want to use these images, you need to save them to your hard drive and upload them to your editor. If you place your cursor over the image, it will give you the pixel size of each image.
that may sound silly but it has been asked of us. You don't need a printer to add this effect to your pages but the answer is "No", if you do not have a printer attached to your system, you cannot print the page.
