Below are the steps you need to take in order to stop selected programs from starting when you boot your system.
- Select your "Start" menu from the lower left side of your screen.
- Once this opens, select "run..."
- When that opens, type into the box in lower case "msconfig" and click "OK"
- Once that opens, you will have numerous tabs on the top of the box that opens.
- Select the "Startup" tab.
- Once that opens, you will see which programs you have that are selected to start on boot-up.
- Read them carefully and uncheck the ones you do not want to start on boot-up.
- Once you have made your selections (reconfigurations), click "Apply", then "OK"
- You will probably get a prompt that for the changes you have made to take effect, you need to restart your system.
- Once you restart your system, you will get a dialog box appearing. Be sure you select;
"Don't show this message or launch System Configuration Utility when Windows start",
- Then click "OK". If you don't, every time you boot your system, you will get that dialog box appearing.
