ighlight the text on your Web page one character at a time. Subtle but effective.
W
e have tested the code in IE5.5, IE6.0, Firefox1.0, Opera8.0 and Netscape7.02. This script worked well in IE only.
- In Opera8.0 the highlighted text did not appear as we had it set up. We have the text size defined as <h1> </h1> and it appeared as <h4> </h4> instead.
- In Netscape7.02 and Firefox1.0, the effect was not visible. Just a blank space where the effect should appear.
- The script does degrade well in those platforms the effect does not work and you will not get any error messages.
- In other words, this script is basically designed for the IE platforms.

epending on your knowledge of HTML and javascripts, this is an easy, two part copy and paste code with minimal reconfigurations both in the <HEAD> and <BODY> sections of the code. The <HEAD> section reconfigurations are that of the background color, highlight color and speed* that the text is highlighted. See Below:
* The higher or larger you set the number for the speed, the slower the change from one character to another. The default is set for 250 which means that it will change every quater of a second.

he only reconfiguration made in the <BODY> section of code is to place whatever text you want highlighted inside the <span> </span> tag. See below:

o answer your next anticipated question, the answer is "No", you cannot use this effect in more that one place in the document. It will not be seen. All that you will see is regular text without any highlighting effect.
