BLOOD BONDS

A vampire who drinks a person's blood three times (at least eight hours apart) within a (lunar) month will become bound to that person. The vampire will find it almost impossible to disobey a direct command from the person he's blood bound to (master), and will want to please that master even to the point of harming himself. The vampire will always know where his master is, and the master will be able to "call" the vampire from any distance. This bond lasts about a hundred years or so (or the life of the mortal, if one is involved) and can be renewed the same way it was made.

A closer but shorter lived version of the blood bond can be achieved between any two vampires/werewolves if they both drink the other's blood three times or mingle bloodstreams once. (A mortal who mingles bloodstreams with a werewolf becomes a werewolf, and a mortal who mingles bloodstreams with a vampire becomes a ghoul.) This bond eliminates the need for either to obey the other, and gives them a kind of telepathy (surface thoughts only). They will each know where the other is at all times. They can share magical power through the bond (and there are more things that can happen if one member of a close bond has magical abilities.) This bond lasts about twenty years and can be renewed either way. More than one vampire can be bound to the same person, and more than two can share the closer bond. The one way bond can be broken if the master frees the vampire or dies. The two way bond can be broken if one member dies, or both members choose to break it (and it will dissolve over time).
