Life is indeed an extraordinary happening. Nothing could be more exciting than to continue growing and learning about everything this planet has to offer. As children our curiosity is such an innocent thing. If you watch a child of five you can see that the only thing on their mind is being paid attention too. They are not concerned about other people, it's about them! Unfortunately too often children have adults around them who teach their own judgments and only see things the way they were brought up. So does that child ever really tap into its full individuality? My childhood was different in the fact that I was constantly going against the flow. I wanted to experience everything. I was allowed to and gave into my curiosity. Damn the rules, they were made to be broken and so I did. Now that I have matured I am actually thankful that I had the courage to grow up this way. Now I can easily go with the flow because I've already been through the experience of being the outsider. I have also come to the realization that in order to know peace I must teach peace. I cannot expect to experience honest love and acceptance if I can't extend this of myself. Other kids my age often hated me and I was very misunderstood. Too often I have witnessed parents teach their children to hate and then children teach other children to hate and then as adults the cycle continues on and on. I searched deep and hard through my adolescence to discover who and what I really am. I have come to the conclusion that we are all divine individual creations. No matter where we come from or where we may be going. I think deep down inside everyone wants the same thing and that is just to be at peace within our own skin. The media and such would have us believe differently. They promote youth and eternal beauty while they cast aside the less fortunate or less than perfect idea of a man or woman. Our elders are our best teachers. Fortunately I have always felt most comfortable around people more mature than myself. It is through these people that I learn the most. Everyday from almost every angle the media saturates society with visuals and audio of what is designed to make us consume. It's really rather sad that they use youth to promote this division amongst the masses. Still we are a nation of consumption and in many areas it would appear that we couldn't get enough of anything.
Not until I
moved to New York did I actually discover how much simpler my life has become
because I have minimized the materialistic and simplified my everyday life. We
are living in probably some of the most difficult times in human society.
Fear is what holds us back from achieving our dreams or aspirations. Fear is
rampant and the people need their heroes. Real heroes with integrity and a
common belief in doing what is right and fair. Everyone should vote
there conscious. I must admit over the past several years I have felt that my
vote is actually wasted on the lesser of two evils. I do indeed love being an
American and I believe in the values on which the foundation of my country was
built. This is America land of the free. To me that means to be free to be
who you are and to not imprison those around me simply because they don't fall
within my own lifestyle or ideas. This is America home of the brave. I hope
this means that we all share the right to be just who we choose to be.
Imagine what this country would be like if everyone actually exercised their
constitutional rights. Bravery comes from self-awareness and the confidence to
make things right. In order for things to be right we cannot allow hate.
Our country is fraying at the seams by societies or generations not being
acceptable of diversity. David Allen
