Dawne Swearingen holds an MFA in Acting from The University of Arizona and has a certificate from NYU’s Musical Theatre Program; CAP 21. She taught acting and dance on the faculty of Baylor University, and has choreographed over 20 musical productions. Notable choreography credits include “Anything Goes” with Debbie Shapiro-Gravitte and assistant choreographing “Little Shop of Horrors” with Beauty and Beast Resident Director, Sam Scalamoni.

As a performer her New York and regional credits include: “Vaya Con Dios Las Vegas” (The York Theatre), “Singin’ in the Rain”(Carousel Dinner Theatre), “All Night Strut”(Rainbow Theatre), and a tour of “Tap Your Toes”(musical director: Bill Whitefield). Dawne created the role of the Cat in Sheldon Harnick’s workshop production of “Dragons” and was a featured dancer in “Wild West Show” with Dennis Weaver. She is currently performing as "Emmy Lou" in Irving Berlin's "Louisana Purchase" with Swine Palace Productions in Baton Rouge, LA. She currently serves on a board for The Arts Trust joining members such as Sam Scalamoni and Brian D’Arcy James. Dawne resides in Manhattan and is currently represented by Nancy Carson at Carson-Adler Agency and John Shea at Frontier Booking International.


Dawne recently appeared off-off Broadway in "George M. Cohan: In His Own Words" at the Chashama Theatre on 42nd St. in Manhattan as part of the Chip Deffaa Invitational. The show was well received by New York Post reviewer Donald Lyons and stars such as Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker. Dawne's portrayal of Josie Cohan was praised by Miranda Lundskaer-Nielsen as "convincing as the talented sister..."
