THE BATTLE FOR EARTH

By Ross Brandstatter

CHAPTER THREE

“Incredible!” said Cell, staring at Gohan in awe.

Gohan screamed his lungs out as he transformed. The ki aura around his body increased. His hair began to grow. Suddenly, there was a big explosion.

Everyone was staring. Even the Cell Juniors were surprised by Gohan’s sudden increase of power. Goku was on the ground. He looked up and chuckled. The smoke began to clear. And there stood Gohan. He had changed. His muscles were bigger. And this time, there was only one strand of hair hanging down on his forehead. Lightning bolts were flickering around his body. Cell was speechless.

“Finally!” cried Cell. “You’ve come out of hiding. Now the game will really get interesting. Gohan’s gaze was on the bag of Sensu Beans in Cell’s hand. With amazing speed, he snatched the beans out of Cell’s hand.

“What?!” said Cell angrily. “The Sensu Beans! How did you get them?” Gohan didn’t reply. He disappeared and then reappeared in front of one Cell Jr. It grinned at him evilly. Then it charged. He chopped it with the side of his hand and it fell to the ground and exploded into nothing. “After all the time we’ve spent trying to kill these things,” said Vegeta, “he does it in one blow.” Gohan teleported himself down into the crater. One Cell Junior put his sharp claws against Krillin’s neck, threatening to kill him if Gohan came any closer. Gohan didn’t move. Finally the evil creature flew up into the air and fired two ki blasts. After the smoke cleared, he looked around. And then he looked up. There was Gohan, holding Krillin with one hand and holding the Sensu Beans with the other. He teleported, set Krillin down on the ground near Piccolo, then teleported and kicked the Cell Junior, causing it to explode.

Cell grinned. “Well, let’s see how he does against all five of them.” The five remaining Cell Juniors charged. Gohan dodged their attacks and knocked them all to the ground with five easy blows. They all flew up into the air and fired attacks including the Tri-Beam, Destructo Disk, and the Kamehameha. Gohan dodged all their attacks once again. Then he increased his energy, sending them all flying into rock pillars. They had all been defeated by one boy.

That’s when Gohan turned to Cell, glowering in hate. The lightning bolts continued to flicker around his body, making Cell even more fearful. Then Cell charged, aiming a hard blow at Gohan’s face. But the punch never touched his skin. Gohan began to block every single blow Cell was sending. “Stop mocking me!” Cell yelled, then continued to send punches. Then Gohan started sending flurries of punches of kicks at Cell, which the villain barely managed to dodge.

All of a sudden, they both stopped and stared at each other. Cell was breathing hard. Then he grinned. “You may think you have the upper hand now, boy, but I have yet to show you what I’m truly capable of.” “Can it!” Gohan said and Cell started to laugh. Then he focused his energy and started to power up. The entire planet was shaking violently.

Nearby...

“Why isn’t anyone looking at me?” asked Hercule. “I’m the star of this show. I threw that guy’s head out there. If it weren’t for me, none of this would’ve happened. “Who cares about that?” yelled the reporter. Then he picked up his microphone and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, Cell has begun to power up and the planet is shaking!”

“Uh, excuse me?” said the cameraman. “Your microphone doesn’t work.”

“CRAP!”

Back on the battlefield...

Cell continued to power up. “This doesn’t look good,” said Piccolo. “Don’t worry, Piccolo,” said Goku. “Cell doesn’t even know Gohan’s power yet.”

Finally, the power-up was complete. Cell was smirking at Gohan, whose face was mask-like. “Tell me this,” said Cell. “Are you at all impressed by my power?”

“Is that all you’ve got?” Gohan inquired.

Cell laughed and punched Gohan in the face with incredible speed. “Unbelievable!” cried Trunks. “His speed has increased as much as his power,” Vegeta admitted.

Cell grinned. Gohan looked up at him, unscathed. Cell growled and prepared another blow. That’s when Gohan sent his fist right through Cell’s stomach. Purple drool oozed from the villain’s lips as he fell to the ground in agony. Gohan hit him again with an uppercut to the chin. Cell gaped at the boy. He said with fear in his voice, “He only had two punches that made contact!”
