The sun has risen and set 13 times since the 'night at the docks.' Thank God, the girls didn't get caught sneaking back into Tiyanna's room at 1:30 AM. Today, the boys are going to be heading out for a small tour in California for a little over a week, one of the longest spans of time Bridget and Frankie had to face apart. Bridget was going to go with the Galasso's to the airport to see Frankie off on his 3,000 mile journey.
"Do you need help packing?" Bridget offered, sprawling across his green carpet and leaning to his black stereo to turn up the radio. Nothing good was playing on the bland stations so she put on Frankie's *NSYNC CD and pushed the 'random' button. The weather was beautiful out that all the birds were singing and the leaves tangoed with the warm wind. You could hear Frankie's dog, Max, barking anxiously at the squirrels running atop the branches of the lucious trees. The opened balcony doors was a beautiful view...as always.
"Nah, I shoulda done it already," Frankie replied, carefully stepping over Bridget to his bed. He placed his clothes in a brown suitcase and zippered it shut.
"Guys," Bridget sighed with a smile, "Always doing things last minuete."
"Maybe I was tired cuz you were running through my mind all day yesterday," Frankie admitted, squatting in front of his girl.
"Aww, what a sweet talker," Bridget smiled, pushing him over on the green grass of carpeting.
"You know it," Frankie agreed snuggling next to Bridget as *NSYNC's song "Celebrity" pumped through the speakers. The laid-back ora of the room was a little uneasy for both of them realizing how important the trip was. But they ignored it. They let go every worry, every future wrinkle on their young faces and basked in the glorious sun of each other's company.
"I don't like this song so mush," Bridget told him, walking her fingers through his short hair as he rested his clogged head on her stomach. "And you're not done packing, Frankles!"
"I don't wanna!" Frankie whined, hugging her little body. "I want to spend lots of time with you!"
"You must pack, I command you!" Bridget let out a small laugh as she sat up and ran to his closet to get out the rest of his things. "Do you need sneakers, Frankie?" she called muffily from the inside of his closet. She started to chuck random things from the closet. Frankie shook his head gleefully, appreciating Bridget's effort and dedication to his career. Frankie picked himself up and pulled her out by her tiny waist. Bridget showed resistance with a smile as she clamped her hands on his hands that devoured her waist. He nuzzled her neck so softly it sent chills streaming through Bridget's veins.
"Stop." Frankie turned her around and presented her with a sweet kiss as NSYNC's "Selfish" began to diffuse all over the room. "I believe this is our song?" Frankie asked, offering his hand to Bridget like a mother offers cookies to her child.
Bridget's smile grew as Frankie drew her close. The room got a little bit brighter as they swayed with the music. Bridget rested her head on Frankie's strong shoulder as they danced to the rythum of the song. Bridget could feel Frankie's heart beat pulse throughout her body. Listening to Frankie's soothing voice sing into her ear, a tear rolled down her emotionless face because she could say she was utterly content...with her life and Frankie.
"How much farther, Darling?" Mrs. Galasso asked Mr. Galasso as she fumbled with a map on the busy stretch of highway.
"It should be rignt off this exit," Mr. G replied, pushing up his black-framed glasses back on the brim of his nose. Just above the exit's green sign you could see planes taking off for their destination.
"Ahh, there we are," Mrs. G sighed with relief, reapplying her black sunglasses.
"Unfortunetley," Bridget whispered. Frankie, without moving his head, took her hand in his and rubbed his thumb over her soft palm.
The guys, their management and Claudia were all waiting at the terminal when the Galassos and Bridget found the gate. With all the people and miscommunication surrounding them, it was almost an impossible task to find anyone.
"Nice of you to join us, Frankie," Jesse replied sarastically as he sat on a black waiting chair.
"Hey, be nice!" Frankie defended himself, "Bridget brought us a going-away present."
"Present?!" Matt's ears jolted up, "I'm liking her more and more!"
"You know you want these cookies," Bridget joked, handing the metal tin of Sugar & Spice cookies to an eager Chris at her right.
"Babe, I love you!" Chris shouted over all the rutcus, giving Bridget a smothering hug.
"I need to breathe, Chris," Bridget gasped as he let go.
"It's nice to see you again, Bridget," Claudia said with a handshake.
"You, too, Claud," Bridget replied peering at the boys circuling Chris and eating like they're starving children from India. "I can't believe you have to spend a week with those monsters," Ridge continued bewildered at the sight.
"We aren't monsters!" Jesse protested, narrowing his eyes at Bridget playfully.
"Just give them a few candy bars and they're spent," Claudia joked heartily with a pat on Bridget's back.
"Flight 124 to Los Angeles is now boarding," a monotone voice echoed through the airport.
"Yay, I want some peanuts!" Matt cheered as he picked up his brown backpack vigerously.
"Some people are easily pleased," Chris replied with a chuckle, checking his hair in a pocket mirror.
Frankie turned to Bridget slowly and put a phony smile on his face. Bridget's face drooped as he took her in his arms. "A week? No sweat," Frankie assured her.
"Easy for you to say," Bridget whispered through stinging tears, "You'll have adoring girls all around you. What do you need with me..."
"Stop there," Frankie demanded, releasing her from his arms of comfort. He cupped her face gently in his strong hands as he continued. "You're the only girl I need. Trust me...remember? I will always be with you..." His eyes wandered to the stagnant necklack glistening on Ridge's golden chest.
"I know, I know," Bridget assured him with a smile, whiping at her freshly-laid tear drops. "It's just hard to see you go."
Frankie kissed her passionatley, their lips simulating that they were meant to be together for the rest of eternity; absolutely the best kiss they've shared, hands down. The rest of the group watched in awe at Frankie and Bridget ignoring the world and staying firmly put in theirs. At the end of the kiss, Bridget smiled that indescribable smile, placing her hands on Frankie's still outstretched arms as he kissed her one last time. "Stay sweet," he told her as he finally let go. Bridget was frozen on the spot. Greg, Chris, Matt and Jesse thanked Bridget for the cookies and said their goodbyes. Frankie gave Bridget a final wave. A icy look glazed his face, but you could tell in his eyes that his heart was hurting inside. He picked up his black duffel back and walked into the distance of a agaped gate. Bridget walked to the window and willingly watched her boyfriend fly to his dreams as she was left cold and astray in New York.
