Safe Tonight - Chapter 24A

"Ti!" Sasha screamed from her car. honking the horn impatiently with Bridget at her side, "They expect us to be there in about 3 seconds!"

"They can wait for greatness," Ti shouted back as she tugged her black adidas bag across the scortched lawn.

"Do you think this is too tight?" Bridget asked as she crawled into the small car, referring to her newly-purchased light blue baby tee. She flipped the mirror down to check her hair when Tiyanna plowed into the back seat.

"It's very sheshy," Tiyanna assured her smiling as Sasha chucked Ti's bag into the trunk.

"What did you pack in there?" Sasha demanded as she got back to the driver's seat, "Rocks?"

"Very funny, Sash," Ti replied as she stretched out in the lone backseat.

"Can we please go?!" Bridget asked with pleading eyes. Sasha smiled as she stepped on the gas.

The drive there was glorious. The wind raced with them against time as they sailed across the fresh highway. Tiyanna actually fell victum to the Sandman during Sasha and Bridget's discussion about the few days of summer left. Bridget glanced around their picturesque surroundings thinking a few things. Everything was in harmony. Everything was right. Everything was perfect.

They arrived at Aunt Katherine's house at 6:37 PM. The beautiful 2 floor white house stood strong against the unbearable sun. The house's eyes peered at the world happily. Four jagged peaks of the house tried to pierce the blue sky. Black shingles fought the wild wind as the wind smacked into them.

Tiyanna woke up abruptly and got out of the car with her friends. Bridget raced to the trunk to get her junk, her adrenaline running full speed. "Honey, calm down," Sasha told her as Bridget floated around like a banshee.

"Sowwy," Bridget replied with a smile, "I'm just excited!"

"I'm tired," Tiyanna whined, dragging herself from the car. She yawned, which took a lot of energy from her, and whiped the sweat from her brow. "I think I'm dying."

"Not even your death would stop me, Ti," Bridget joked as they strolled up to the white front door. Sasha layed down her suitcase and knocked three times. The door seemed to open by magic, but a smart-alleck Jesse was the culprate.

"Nice of you guys to show up," Jesse greeted them.

"Yeah, Ti's fault," Bridget told them as they stepped into the smells of delicious pizza.

"Everyone blame Tiyanna," Tiyanna rolled her eyes as her nose, or what was working of her nose, sniffed the ooey goodness. "Pizza...smells like...pepperoni..." She continuted to sniff out the smell as her nose lead her to the right into the very large kitchen.

"Jackpot," Sasha shouted as she glanced at the 4 boxes of pizza calling her name.

"Welcome, Girls," Mrs. G said to the girls as she sat up and got them some plates and cups from the cupboard.

"Way to wait for us," Bridget told them with a smile as she took a seat next to Frankie. He brushed her face tenderly and gave her a quick kiss.

"We're growing boys," Matt informed the girls, guzzing down his Coke like a thirst-deprived dog.

"Yeah, we can see that," Sasha assured Matt, scooping a pepperoni slice out of the box.

"You don't look so hot, Ti," Greg informed her, looking at her sick-fallen face.

"Well, you look HOT like always," Chris assured her, patting her shoulder, "But are you feeling OK?"

"Not really," Tiyanna meekely replied resting her heavy head on the palm of her hand. "I think I need to take a nap. You don't mind if I lay down for a while, do you, Mrs. G?"

"Of course not," Mrs. G assured her. "You girls' room is the first on the left up the stairs."

"I'll escort you," Chris informed Tiyanna, chucking his paper plate into the garbage.

"How sweet," Jesse teased, receiving a smack across the head from Chris.

After dinner, everyone made their way to the den while Chris was nursing Tiyanna back to health.

"Chris...I command you...to go have fun...with the guys," Tiyanna whined, coughing up a storm between every few words as Chris strolled in with a glass of water.

"No way," Chris replied with a sincere smile, "You sound terrible..."

"Nah," Tiyanna denied, Chris softly sitting next to her on the edge of the blue-sheeted bed. Her loose curls were tied lazily with a hair tye. Her tan complextion morphed into a chalky glow. "I just need...sleep...or some tranquilizers." She tried to reach for a distant tissue on the nightstand, but her arms couldn't even graze the nightstand.

"Let me get it for you," Chris suggested, leaning across Tiyanna for the tissue. His hand suddenly dropped from the side of the bed, forcing him to land on Tiyanna. Tiyanna's face was glazed with shock, as was Chris's...Then, they both smiled...

"'Guess Who' is a stupid game!" Jesse concluded, fustratively kicking the board across the wooden floor.

"GAME being the key word, Jesse," Matt piped in as he gathered his blue board and cards.

"This is the time to relax, guys," Greg informed them, burying himself in the latest 'Teen' Mag. His smile grew wider with every turn of the page.

"Why the hell are you reading that chick mag?" Frankie asked, brushing his fingers through Bridget's straight locks.

"For the chicks," Greg smiled devilishly, displaying the perfect picture of Britney Spears.

"She's all plastic, Gregs," Sasha informed him, leaning on the arm of Greg's maroon recliner.

"You need a real women, and a realistic one," Bridget chuckled, resting her head on Frankie's stomach.

Chris litterally skips into the room, his smile more vibrant and shiny than the golden sun. He does a little twirl oh so gracefully and falls over the arm of the black couch, landing next to Frankie and Bridget.

"Uhhh...did you just score or something?" Matt asked as he placed the board game at the top of a cedar closet, bewildered at Chris's behavior.

"I...guess you could say that," Chris concluded, scratching his chin as he grabbed the radio remote and blasted NSYNC's "Pop."

"Holy shit, Christopher!" Greg yelled, covering his ears as he lunged for the remote, "Are you trying to make me go deaf?!"

"What happened, what happened?!" Sasha pleaded, ignoring Greg's question and jumping next to Chris on the couch.

"Me...Tiyanna...We...smooched," Chris gloated proudly, placing her hands behind his head in a satisfied manner.

"But, Dude," Jesse interrupted his moment of glory, "She's sick."

"JESSE!" they all moaned, which was quickly replaced with laughter.

"It was just...magic..." Chris summarized, flaring his hands out in a dreamy motion.

"But dude, what happened to 'We're too hot for each other'?" Greg implored, tossing the mag onto the coffee table.

"I guess we're cooling down," Chris replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
