~*Crista's Hope*~

Chapter 1

It was a typical day in NYC. Clear skies, people walking about the city attending bussiness. All except the back alleys where the "runaways" hung out. Among many of them there was Crista. She had run away over 5 months ago, only being 15. She ran away because she claims her home life wasnt good. Her mother was always screaming and never home working late. While her mom was gone her step-father beat her often. They lived in the bad part of Manhattan and she hated school altogether. She wanted to go back to Colorado with her younger brother and real dad but when it came time she left her house she didnt have enough money to get there on bus. The whole time being abandoned in the city she had been trying to earn the ticket to colorado bit by bit. Through the dirt and ragged clothes she was a very beautiful girl, that is when her face wasnt covered in bruises and cuts from her step father. She had fair skin with magical sea colored aqua eyes with a grey tint and a narrow shape. She had very long honey blonde hair with natural lite blonde highlights.

Crista slowly walked the streets of the back alleys to a certain spot. She waited and then someone else appeared. "Do you have it?" a fairly older boy asked. "Yes its all here," she said handing him a bag and he handed her the money. Just then they heard police sirens. The boy snatched his money back from Crista and ran. "HEY!" she shouted, but she didnt have tme to chase him. She quickly ran into another alley avoiding the police. After they left she kicked the wall in frustraton. "DAMMIT! that could have added up more money to the 20 I already had. Cheated again!" she said to herself. It was getting dark out and fairly late. Crista thought she should return to her own teritory before it got too dark. She was walking home when she was jumped. She couldnt exactly tell what was going on but she knew that they were LRs. One of the many gangs out of her neighborhood. Next thing she knew she was on the ground and slowly passing out in the gutter of the street at 12:00 that night.

Crista slowly opened her eyes and looked around. She was in a room, someones room. She looked down and moved a bit. she was laying in a bed room wich appeared to be a boys room. Just then the door opened and crista jumped up. "Whoa sorry to scare you," an older women in her late 30's said. "Who are you? and where the hell am I?" she said looking around more. "I found you in an alley badly beaten. You're extremly lucky I found you or you would have bled to death. Now come with me I have food ready at the table for you," the women said walking out of the room. Crista slowly got out of the bed and looked out the window. She was still in manhattan, but a totally different area. She walked out of the room and into the kitchen where on the table there was soup and something to drink waiting for her. The women was washing the dishes and turned around. "Have a seat," she said with a kind smile. crista got up on the chair and began to eat.

Just then a young boy about cristas age walked into the room. Crista looked up at him as he walked in. He was VERY cute with spikey brown hair, tan skin and pretty eyes. He stopped when he saw the girl looking back at him. "Is this her?" he said to what crista concluded to be his mom. "mm hmm" she said. "Oh hey, I'm Chris," he said sitting by her. "Um hi...I'm crista," she said with a half smile. "So i heard my mom was being a hero and 'rescued' you last night" Chris said making conversation. "Eh I guess you can say that, I don't even remeber what happened" she said with a confused look. "All i know is that you didn't look to good when you came in," chris said. "Oh hey soup!" he said estatically walking to the stove and getting some. "Christopher! That's for her!" his mother scowled him. "Oh no it's fine, I don't think I'm going to eat much more," crista said kindly. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Yes very," Crista said now smiling. Chris got some soup and sat down with crista as she explained to him how she got into the mess and why she was on the street. "You poor thing," his mother said over hearing the conversation. "No need to pity me, I'm fine on the street," Crista shrugged. "Oh no your staying here. I'll take care of you, and you can hang out with chris while you stay," she explained. "Yeah dont worry I don't bite, we might even be able to hang out today," Chris said smiling at her. "That's fine but before you go anywhere I wanna take you shopping, you can't stay in these clothes forever," shesaid. "Chris would you like to come, I think she would be more comfortable with someone her own age around", she said. "Okay sure" Chris shrugged.

The 3 journeyed to the mall. "So do you have any favorite stores?" Chris' mother asked. "Umm its been awhile, but I always shopped at Rave and Pac Sun." she said. "Oo oo pac sun!" Chris said acting like a little kid wich made crista laugh. They went into the store and began to look around. "Let's try on something you can wear out of the store," Mrs. Trousdale said. Crista picked out some clothes and went into the dressing room. After she put it on Mrs. Trousdale clipped up her hair and gave her a little make up and she walked out. "Chris come here," she said. Chris ran over. "What do you think?" she said asking his honest opinion. Crista walked out wearing a black spaghetti strap with a grey pull over and bell bottoms. "She looks...um sh-she looks, uhh," Chris wasnt sure what to say. She looked beautiful, gorgeous, lovely, sexy, hot, cute but yet none of those things could come out of his mouth. "She looks, very...very uuh GREAT! Yeah...she looks really great" Chris staggered a little. Crista blushed laughing a little as Mrs. Trousdale laughed too. "What?" chris asked. "Nothing, nothing" she said eyeing both of them and walking to the cash register. Crista and Chris looked at each other and both shrugged as they went with her. She bought her other things to "accomedate" her needs. "How come I never get this stuff!" Chris complained. "You've been getting stuff like this your entire life, it's someone elses turn," she said with a smirk. "I'll let you barrow my shoes chris!" Crista said jokingly. Chris just laughed rolling his eyes.

When they got home Chris told his mom he was taking crista out for some 'fun'. The two left and soon found themselves in times square. "I've lived in New York my whole life and never seen any of these things!" she said obviously enjoying herself. "I'm glad your happy," Chris smiled. After a long day in the city they went back home. "Thanks for everything," crista said. "You're welcome," Chris said. Chris' face was just to adorable, so Crista put a friendly peck on his cheek and went into her room as Chris walked away with a smile from ear to ear.
