April muffled a yawn as she sipped at her black coffee, watching as Nick made a call to the guys to check on the ride. She was tired as hell, seeing as it was only 6:00 am. He finished his call and looked at her. “ Are you gonna eat?” He asked nonchalantly but couldn’t help hearing AJ’s words in his mind. “ Nope, I’m not hungry...” He sighed, taking a piece of toast. “ Sleep well?” He inquired. “ Yeah...” She wondered why he even tried for a conversation, she knew he wasn’t a morning person. “ April?...” “ Yeah?” He paused, studying her face. “ You’d tell me if something was going on, right?” “ Of course.” He sighed again, wishing she would take off her sunglasses so he could see if she was telling the truth. “ Why?” “ I just feel like you don’t...trust in me, I guess...” “ I do...” She said, but not convincingly enough. He picked up his plate, turning abruptly away from the conversation. She watched as he rinsed the plate and put away the breakfast stuff. “ Nick, what’s wrong?” She was wary of him at the moment, of everyone. “ Nothing,” “ I’m sick of our conversations you know that?” She tossed softly, tracing the rim of her coffeecup. “ Believe me, not as much as I am,” He muttered. “ Then why bring it up? Why start anything?” “ Because I care about you, April!” He spat out loudly, slamming the bottle of jam on the counter. She shook her head as he continued cleaning noisily. “ Nick, you make a big deal out of everything,” “ No, I just see what’s really there,” “ Goddammit, Nick. And what exactly is ‘there’?” “ What else am I supposed to think, huh? You always act like somethings wrong, you won’t talk to me...You’ve changed!” “ I’ve changed? Everyone has to change, Nick. I’m still the same person you’ve always-” “ No, you’re not.” He said, stating it so quietly she glared at him, as if he could just finish the conversation like that. “ I know nothing about you anymore, April. You’re different. And you’re scaring the shit out of everyone. You’re so goddamn reclusive-” “ Oh, so I see it now. You’ve talked to my parents. And the only reason you asked me to stay with you is because they asked you to, right?” SHe asked, her eyes blazing. “ You know that’s not true, April. I asked you to stay with me because I wanted you here, I wanted to fix things between us...” His voice took on a pleading tone as he stopped what he was doing and stared at her, a worried look in his eyes. “ I am so sick of people pulling shit out of their ass with this. Why do you even listen to my parents, Nick? They’re never around, how in the hell would they know what’s going on with me? And then they start with the whole ‘I’m here for you’ b.s but how are they here for me when they’re not even in the same state?” Her face turned an angry shade of red and her voice broke as she sighed, sitting back in the chair and trying to get a leash on her emotions. “Fine, I can understand that, but I’m here, April, not them. I’m the one asking whats wrong, not them. Why don’t you give ME a straight answer?” He asked softly, keeping level with her eyes. Their was an intense air about in the room as he waited on her answer and she hesitated. “ Nick-” The moment broke as soon as a car horn honked, it’s tires screeching as it pulled to an abrupt stop out front. “ That must be the guys...AJ’s probably driving,” He muttered, dissapointed at the bad timing. “ We’ll talk later?” She nodded as she stood up and followed Nick out front...
