February 16, 2003 -- Manhattan 22-1642 449 Convent Ave near West 149 St.. As NYC was in its early stages of a blizzard, First due companies Engine 80 and Tower Ladder 23 responded to a report of a fire in an occupied building. Members were greeted by a heavy volume of fire on the second floor of a 4 story occupied brownstone. Upon arrival of the 16 Battalion, a second alarm was transmitted. Two civilians jumped from the building prior to FDNY arrival. Fire had extended to the upper floors and through the roof. All members were withdrawn and Tower Ladder 23 was put to work and knocked the fire down.
