Another heartwarming story about Filipinos helping other Filipinos.
As Filipino Americans strugling to at times help our family members in the Philippines, we were faced with a community challenge to help a family here in Rochester. Recently, you might have received a personal letter to help a member get through their struggle. Our Association quickly reached out by organizing a garage sale with great participation from the Talty, Modugno, Garett, Rivera, DeLaCruz, Varrera, Pacete, Pangilinan and Enriquez families.
Thank you to these families for such a quick response. FAAR also pitched in by providing some financial support directly from our ASK fund. In addition, our BLD community has extended

their help to this cause.Below is a personal note from the recipient of your help, thanking the tremendous response from the Filipino Community of Rochester;
"Though words cannot express the thoughts the heart would like to say, may you know that we are more than grateful for all the support that you have extended to my family. Thank you for your donations and most of all for all your prayers, kung hindi sa
bukas loob ninyong pagdamay, hindi namin alam kung papaano naming malalagpasan ang nagdaan naming krisis.
Especial thanks to a group of special people who acted more than friends but more so like family, people who never grew tired of calling me and talking to me and advising me - in times where I can think no more, the souls that guided me back so I would realize I have a million things to be thankful for besides grieving for my mom's loss: Matet & Ming Varrera, Bella & Tikboy Ambubuyog, Marina & Frank Enriquez, kay Faye, Claire and Lem, to Leah Sick and to new-found friends, Amy and Mel Rivera and Zeny Asis.
We would also like to thank Lorna Riley, Al & Mesina Pacete, Judith & Menong Pareon, to Amante Parungao, Dr. Alma Canlas, sa lahat ng miyembro ng Filipino Association, at sa lahat ng miyembro ng Bukas Loob sa Diyos (BLD). Hindi pa lubusang tapos ang mga problema namin pero sa awa at tulong ng Maykapal, natatanaw na namin ang liwanag.Muli, maraming, maraming salamat po."
I am sure that there are other countless families that have contributed to this cause. But this goes to show the strength and goodness that this community has for everyone. Thank you again for your help.
