Footprints
is a ministry of HOPE for bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents.
We trust God is using the ministry to encourage you as you travel this
road with us. The Bible Dictionary describes Hope as meaning: "the
expectation of future good."
Barbara Johnson
in her book, "Splashes of Joy", wrote "Somebody said one of our
greatest enemies is not disease ~ but despair. One of our greatest
friends is Hope. And the reason we can have hope in this life is
because of our Hope in the life to come." For Christian bereaved
families, that means the hope of seeing their children again.
Jesus Christ
is our Hope in this life to get us through the dark days, knowing He has
been in the hard places and shares our pain. There will be days that
we feel we can't go on, we want to give up but our Lord holds us secure
in His arms until the sun shines again.
In my life,
Hope in Christ has been like an anchor and I am the boat. My grief
came in waves. When the big waves hit against my boat and almost
swept me over; I wanted to die and join my sons. I cried all day
and didn't want to leave my bedroom, much less my bed. I wanted to
shut the world out. But ~ I always knew my faith was anchored firmly
in Christ and if I lived or died, He would be with me. I felt like
Job in the Bible. "Even after my skin is destroyed, yet from my flesh
I shall see God; whom I myself shall behold and whom my eyes shall see
and not another." Job 19:26-27.
Before the
Lord used me to begin this ministry, there was not a Christian ministry
for bereaved parents in Charlotte. I didn't have a Christian bereaved
parent that I could share my pain with ~ but when the Lord sent me Shirley
Robinson, a Christian mother whose son had been murdered over a jacket.
into my gift shop, she shared her faith with me, we bonded as sisters and
I began healing.
Footprints
is here to support you, listen to you, allowing you to get the pain out
in a safe way, knowing someone else is sharing that pain with you.
We pray everyday for the parents and families whose children have died.
We would consider it a privilege to pray with you.
