~IN REMEMBRANCE~

To me, I believe that Mother's Day is one of the hardest days of all for us Moms who have lost a child or children.  I always go back to that moment that made me a Mom.  From the day we knew a life was inside us, we feel love an responsibility to protect and defend that new little person.  We devote our life to them.  I will always hold so dear the memory of seeing Dustin for the very first time.  It was just simply amazing to have such strong, deep, pure love for someone I had just met.  But, from that moment on, that love would grow and grow each day ever stronger.  As most of your know, Dustin was born with a blood clot on his brain and doctors didn't have any idea on what might happen.  He was in intensive care for two weeks, having daily spinal taps to take the pressure off his brain.  He developed pneumonia, jaundice, had to be fed through his forehead and had seizures.  I really believed that was the most terrible thing that I would have to be faced with.  I had no idea that the future would hold more heartache that I could ever have imagined.  But, even all the pain, all the sleepless nights, all the questioning, all the loneliness, all the unbearable grief, that I go through it worth it a million time over to have had the honor of having Dustin in my life..  I know for all of us, that is the choice we would make.  If only for a moment, or a day, or years, we wold choose to have had our child bless our lives.  The memories we have are priceless treasures to us.  We gather up all of our memories and hold them close to our hearts, never for one minute willing to give them up for anything.  May we, on Mother's Day, remember that some day we will have another "Mother's Day", and it will be so wonderful words cannot begin to describe it.  We will walk from this life into Heaven and see our beautiful child and hear them say, "I love you, Mom."  Right now, take a moment, close your eyes and see your child welcoming you with a big smile.  Thinking about you with love and prayers.
