~MY
EARLY MOTHER'S DAYS~
(Footprints
Ministry Newsletter ~ May-June 2004)
My
first Mother's Day without my sons was hard. My boys always gave
me a card ever since they were old enough to write their names. Wayne
would add "xxxx" meaning he loved me. My daughter, Anne, semt me
a beautiful Mother's Day card and signed all three of their names.
My son's widow, Emma sent me a card reassuring me of her love. Both
cards really touched my heart.
I had a Peace
Rose bush growing in my yard and took one of the roses and pinned it to
my Easter dress. The rose was kind of yellow with a pink center.
For any one at church who asked about the odd color, I shared that the
rose was in memory of my two sons and yellow is the color for eternal life.
Wearing the rose that I grew myself was a reminder to me of my precious
sons and raising them.
Of course being
in God's House on Mother's Day was a great comfort to me. I felt
the presence of my Heavenly Father holding me in His arms. Being
in the church I raised my sons in all their life also brought me comfort
and I felt they were there beside me in the pew. Even today, remembering
back to those early days of grief still brings tears to my eyes.
I tell people those tears are the love I had for my precious sons leaking
out.
