REMEMBER~
As you gather
around the table
And everyone
takes a seat
Looking at
the table
Shuffling
your feet
Checking out
the turkey
With the dressing
bulging out
Mashed potatoes
and gravy
Isn't this
what it's all about?
I think back
to yesteryears
When everyone
was here
The joy and
happiness of being together
For Thanksgiving
all those years
My son whose
eyes would light up
When he saw
the goodies on the tray
Going to Grandma's
house
On those special
Thanksgiving Days
I close my
eyes and remember
How things
used to be
When life
was untouched by tragedy
That changed
my Holiday's for me
Though my heart
hurts
And the memories
always come
I'll manage
to get through this day
Like all those
in the past I've done
I'll remember
the giggles
I'll think
of all the laughter
I'll recall
all the hugs
That makes
my heart beat faster
I'll think
of when I was a child
Not married
and still at home
How mom and
gram filled the table
And how my
tummy hurt and groaned
I'll think
of the decorations
That were
all over the house
And the aromas
on Thanksgiving morning
Isn't that
what it's all about?
Yet I'm thankful
I'm alive
And still
can remember yesteryear
And smile
at the memories
Even though
they may bring a tear
I'll have my
dinner ready
And my son
and husband will enjoy
But I'll say
a silent "I love you"
To my little
Andy boy
Love you kiddo
forever and ever,
