Time has passed
my child
Since the
day you went away
I've struggled
with the heartache
From the memory
of that day
Each year on
this day
My mind goes
back to long ago
When you and
I were together
Before tragedy
changed my life so
I miss the
things we did
I miss the
things you'd say
I miss the
hugs and kisses
That you gave
to me each day
I miss the
nighttime stories
That I used
to tell to you
I miss the
giggles and laughter
And the silly
things you'd do
I miss the
places we went to
The special
lunches that we shared
The squeals
of laughter you made
And the special
way you always cared
Today I will
open the door
That holds
all your special things
The photos,
papers and the shark
And the tiny
gold baby ring
I'll hold the
special blanket
You carried
with you everywhere
I can close
my eyes and see you
With your
thumb hidden under it somewhere
I'll look at
the Dukes of Hazard lunchbox
The one you
loved so much
And remember
the times we ate
Peanut butter
sandwiches for lunch
I'll touch
the jacket I got you
The one with
the fringe in front
The one the
goat was eating
When he thought
you were his lunch
I'll gently
hold them to my cheek
And let my
memory drift back to long ago
When you and
I were together
Before death
touched my life so
I'll always
remember the day
You said you
wanted to marry me
I tried to
explain softly
That it could
never be
I remember
so many things
Of things
that you and I used to do
I close my
eyes and time takes me
To the years
I had with you
I'll get out
the cassette
So I can hear
your voice today
Then I'll
tuck it away again
To be brought
out another special day
On this twenty
fourth year, my son
Since the
day you went away
I'll honor
your memory as always
Forever in
my heart you will stay
I'll always
love you my child
No matter
where I may be
I promised
you a love
That would
last through eternity
