~THROUGH
THE YEARS~
I remember
when I was little
With things
I wanted to say
You always
listened to me
And taught
me so much along the way
When I grew
to be a teenager
And issues
were pressing on me
I always came
to you
Your answers
were so clear to see
When I had
homework
That was so
hard for me to do
You'd sit
down and say
Now this is
what you do....
I grew to be
a woman
I chose a
man to be my mate
And though
I knew you weren't happy
You told me
I had to learn fate
The day I gave
birth
And you saw
that little boy
You said what
are you naming him
And then I
saw your joy
For he was
named after you
It's the only
way I knew how to show
How much you
have meant to me
Oh, how your
heart glowed!
You were there
with me Dad
The day God
called him home
It was you
who held me
When my heart
was ripped and torn
You stood beside
me
You told me
to have faith
You said you
didn't have answers
You said some
question had to wait
And now we've
come to the time
In our lives
I always feared
I see you
becoming frail
After all
these wonderful years
I just want
you to know
How much you
mean to me
And what a
wonderful father
God sent a
long time ago you see
Your hair is
now silver
But I still
see the spunk in your eyes
You lost your
mate long ago
And yet, somehow
you've survived
We are apart
in miles today
But distance
does not stop love
We both have
a child in Heaven
That looks
upon us from above
The day your
lost my brother
You came to
me on that day
And told me
you never realized
The pain that
never goes away
I had hoped
you'd never know
What I've
lived with all these years
How many nights
I've cried
How many times
I've shed tears
But now we
both
are bonded
With feelings
we both know
The road we
walk in child loss
And how our
hearts ache so
So on this
Father's Day, Dad
I just wanted
to say
I love you
more than I can express
With words
on your special day
You know because
I've told you
And now I'll
let the whole world see
I'm proud
to be your daughter
I thank God
He gave you to me
Happy Father's
Day Dad
