Kim and Joel were upstairs in his bedroom talking. "I have something I want to tell you" Joel said.
Joel was sitting on his bed looking through a magazine when Kim walked in. Joel was wearing a Minor Threat T-shirt, black dickes, and his black converse. Kim walked in slowly and had the look on her face as if someone died. Kim was wearing red and black plaid pants, a Harvey Danger shirt, with her pink converse. She had light brown hair with pink highlights.
"I have something to tell you too".
"Ladies first," he said with a smile on his face.
"I have some bad news," Kim said as she slowly started welding up with tears.
"What is it Kim, whats wrong," Joel said looking concerned.
"I found out a few days ago that my grandmother had cancer" she said as her teary eyes looked into his.
"Oh Kim, I am sorry to hear that," Joel said hugging her.
"But thats not all, I have to move back to Pennsylvania with my family next week." Joel didn't know what to say. What he was going to tell her, is that he had a feeling for her for the past four months.
They did nothing else that day except for talking about the three years they knew each other.
~One Week Later~
"Mom can I go over to see Joel and the guys before we leave today," Kim said as she slowly walked down the stairs.
"Okay, but be back soon because we are leaving in one hour," her Mom said as she packed the rest of the pictures in a box.
"I'll be back in a half hour," she said as she walked out the front door. She reached the Madden's house in about five minutes. After all they only lived eleven blacks away. She knocked and Miss Madden opened the door.
"Good morning Kim, the boys are upstairs you can go right on up to see them," Miss Madden said very politely.
"Thanks Miss Madden," she said as she walked up the brown, wooden stairs. The hallway walls were white and had family pictures on them. the one Kim liked the most is when Benji and Joel were five, they were on their bikes and Benji was about to fall. She always thought that one was cute because Joel pushed him and he looked scared for he thought he was going to be in trouble.
She knocked on the door and heard Joel yell, "come on in"
"Hey guys," she said as she walked into the room.
"Hey Kim," Benji said as he was playing his guitar while sitting on his bed. Paul and Billy were playing Nintendo.
"I just came over to say good-bye because I am leaving today," she said looking down at the floor.
"Do you know if you are ever gonna be back in MD at all?", Benji asked coming towards her.
"I am not sure, it depends if my grandma gets better or not."
"Well, if you do let us know," Billy said calling over from the other side of the room.
"Well, I better head home," she said after giving Benji, Paul, and Billy a hug.
"Call anytime," Paul said as she went over to Joel.
"Come on, I will walk you home," Joel said motioning towards the door.
"Okay," she said following behind him.
"He loves her",Paul said as Kim and Joel walked down the stairs.
"Ya its pretty obvious", Benji said as he went back to playing his guitar.
Kim and Joel reached her house in about seven minutes because they both walked to her home slowly and in silence.
"I am gonna miss you alot," Kim said as she stepped in front of Joel and gave him a hug. When Kim stepped back they were both looking deep in each others eyes. Joel stepped closer to her and kissed her on the lips. He didn't plan to but his tongue in because he thought it would upset her. To his surprise she was the one who put her tongue in his mouth. They were kissing for about a minute and Kim's little sister was peeking out the window and saw them. Kim slowly backed away and told Joel that she was sorry about that. Before Joel could say anything she ran quickly into her house. That was the last time Kim and Joel saw each other.
