HallwayHallway: The first thing that needs to be fixed is the floor. Dig out the bad wood and patch it up. Sadly, so sadly, almost every floor upstairs has considerable wear and some damage. And I never realized just how loud wood floors can be under the feet of a five year old and a three year old. This leads me to a conclusion that will probably undergo numerous discussions and changes; wall to wall carpet throughout the upstairs. I know there are wood floor purists out there screaming “Nooooooo!!!!!”, and if they would like to replace this floor at cost, I won’t carpet. No need to re-state the flooring issue. This goes for the entire second floor. Also EVERY door needs to be re-hung plumb and the linen closet needs a complete makeover.06/23/03: The porch may be on hold. You see, Saturday night it rained, and it came pouring down inside the walls. I'll update this page when I find out more, but someone's coming to look at it today or tomorrow. In the meantime, I rigged up a little deflection shield with some tin foil, and it seemed to work overnight. 07/07/03: My stepfather and some guy came over to look at the roof. With a big piece of rubber (I have a flat roof, remember) and some super adhesive, it was all fixed up. However, I have a big gaping hole in my wall still. Whatever.

It caught most of the water. The bucket in the basement seemed to catch the rest. |
Here's a shot of the roof. Interesting, eh? |
