Lending
moral support up close

New
York will never look the same again. |
About 35 Giants spent more than 90 minutes Sept. 15 shaking hands and
thanking rescue workers searching for survivors in the rubble at the
World Trade Center. The players were ferried from Jersey City to
Manhattan in shifts by New York City Police boats starting around 1 p.m.
They had brought supplies for the rescue workers to a staging area in
Jersey City, when they decided to see if they could go to the financial
district and lend moral support. "The guys didn't know if it was
the right thing to do," said Pat Hanlon, the team's vice
president of communications. "But they saw that what they did
carries weight. At the end of the day, they felt like they'd done
something."

Other Giants News......
- The Giants evacuated their indoor training facility at Giants
Stadium (less than 10 miles from where the WTC used to be) twice
Sept. 14 after alarms went off during practice. Coach Jim Fassel
said the alarms were caused by a short in an air duct. "It was
a little scary because of the situation, but I didn't think it was
too much," said S Sam Garnes. "I'm sure we would
have heard more sirens than that if something was really going
on."
- Richard Lynch, son of WFAN Giants' radio analyst Dick
Lynch, is one of the thousands missing in the wake of the World
Trade Center attacks, the New York Post reported. "What I keep
thinking about is what Jesus said, 'Forgive them for they know not
what they do,'" said Lynch, fighting through tears, on Sept.
14. "That phrase keeps going around in my head. It's the
closest way for me to get any solace." Richard, 31, was
believed to be working on the 84th floor of 2 World Trade Center
when the attacks occured.
