FLYING FIELDS

Home Up

Sylvan Beach-From the South-Take Rt 13 North off I-90, when you cross over the canal take a right and loop back under the overpass, the flying field is at the end of the road and the corner of the canal and Oneida Lake.

From the North Take Rt 13 South, when you get to Sylvan Beach take a right at the amusement park before going over the bridge and then take a right at the end of the exit ramp. The flying field is straight ahead.

From the east and west you can get there from Rt 31 or Rt 49 and then follow the North and south directions once you get to Rt 13.

Fort Ontario- Once you're in Oswego, from Rt 103 take East 9th St straight to the Fort.

Greenview Country Club-From Central Square take Rt 49 East a few miles and the large driving range/field is on the left hand site just before West Monroe. As long as you don't interfere with the golfers if there are any there practicing you can fly any time.

Van Buren Park-

Baseball Field near Lockheed Martin-

Fort Stanwix- Rome NY. Right at the intersection of Erie and Black River Blvd's. You should be able to park near the bank across the street from the Fort.

Griffiss Business and Technology Park- Once in Rome head up Black River Blvd and then turn right on Floyd Avenue, follow Floyd avenue until you're on Griffiss. When you reach the main street light continue straight and the flying field is on the left across from 153 Brooks Road.

From Black River Blvd come in the Mohawk gate and follow to the main street light and turn left and then follow directions from Floyd!

From Utica and Rt 49 take the skyline gate entrance to the park and follow the road past the new RFA and continue down the hill, around the small traffic circle and to the street light, make a right and follow directions from Floyd!

I fly there after work every day when the wind is up. Try to get an hour or so of flying in to help unwind! So far the wind has been from the east but east or west wind should be good. Actually any direction, not many big trees or buildings close by to interfere. Not bad for inland winds! Also I do have permission to buggy on Griffiss utilizing the taxi ways near the hush house. If interested contact me and I can get the name of the POC for gaining access to the flightline area.
