TRACTION

Home Up

This page is dedicated to traction kiting. The background is a pic of the surface of Ivanpah Dry Lake, I figured it would make a great background for a website or wallpaper for the desktop. For the moment there are only two of us in CNY that are doing the buggy thang. Brian Vanderslice aka Slice or Sliceman and myself Rich Belcastro. We're still in search of a great buggy location here in CNY but that hasn't stopped us being Rebels and buggy the Beach at Oneida Lake! Myself on my buggy and Slice on his Wheels of Doom! In the mean time I usually buggy at the Community Soccer Fields in Camden NY. We're still looking for great areas to possibly call home to the CNY Buggy Bastages so if anyone knows of anyplace that is worthwhile checking out let us know. You can e-mail me from the Home page or on the members page. Below is a pic of me on Ivanpah Dry Lake, the place where I learned to buggy. It's actually a bad place to learn because once you buggy there no place can compare to it. :(

The cold winter months haven't stopped us from enjoying kiting so far. Brian and I have been joined by another CNY'er, Mike Adams from Oswego NY. Mike contacted me through a yahoo group, NEKS-NorthEast Kite Surfers. Slice and I have joined him in shredding Lake Nehanawanta located in Fulton NY and have had the pleasure of shredding Oneida Lake until I injured my knee. So I'm taking it easy now and hoping the knee will heal and I can return to assist the CNY Rebels in shredding Cazenovia Lake and Onandaga Lake before the spring thaw. We all use regular ski boots with 99cm Ski Boards or ski blades. It's an awesome time and it's unbelievable how warm you stay cruising around the lake despite the cold temps and wind chills. As for myself I'm looking forward to shredding the lakes by mid/end February unless my knee problems persist and surgery is required. Well pics are going to follow soon. If  I can't shred than I'll make sure I'm out there documenting the fun times. Who says I can't go out there and at least fly a rev or other kite. Just have to bundle up is all! If you're interested in joining the fun contact me at my e-mail on the home page or the members page.

Brian Vanderslice at Oneida Lake, pics on the lake, canal and even skiing the Sylvan Beach flying field! Slice that's not allowed on the flying field! Oh wait, your ski's don't have wheels so you should be safe. We won't tell!

Nice ski jump they put at the end of the parking lot!

Mike Adams on Oneida lake with his Flysurfer!

Well it's the end of the 04 season and I'm injured once again. This time my left knee, last year it was my right one. I lucked out then and hoping for the best with this one. I fell once again on ski's this time on the slopes. I should have taken lessons, hingsight gets you every time. Well here's a couple of pics of the Cabrinha Sonic 12M Snow kites that are in the area being used by Slice, Mike Kearney, and Mike Adams. Mike and Mike are using the Cabrinha water version, the orange one in the pic is Slice's Sonic 12M. Guess I'll have to wait until next year to try these awesome kites out. These were taken at the Sweethearts fly at Sweets on the Beach located at Sylvan Beach NY.

You can click on this link to check out the new JoJo RM (RaceMaster) 8M kite I picked up just a week prior to injuring my knee.

Below are a few pics of kite skiing on Oneida Lake in Constantia along the north side of the lake on 3/20/04. Those that showed up were, Slice, Mike K, Mike A, Dave, Pat and Penny, Tony and Rich B. 8 people on the lake at one time skiing and snowboarding. Sure looked awesome to see that many people out there. Kites ranged from Cabrinha 12M Sonic Snow kites, Cabrinha 12 CO2, Ocean Rodeo 9M, Flysurfer Titan, JoJo 8M RaceMaster.
