- There were two new assistant principals at JEA-Dix Hills in September 1976: Mrs. Josephine Viaggio, who was placed in charge of the Primary and 300s Intermediate Clusters, and Mrs. Jean Rembt, who was put in charge of the 600s Intermediate Cluster and Junior High program.
- JEA-Dix Hills' physical education department began an intramural sports program for the Intermediate students.
- On November 17, 1976, the Intermediate students attended a matinee presentation of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the nassau Coliseum.

- The JEA Cardinal Yearbook underwent a major format change as the Primary and Intermediate classes were no longer included.
