48" USS Constitution

American frigate with 54 guns, was launched on October 21, 1797. She had bigger dimensions, sails and equipment than the contemporary ships of the same class. Her strong construction earned her the name of "Old Ironsides". She was protagonist of various episodes of naval battles, the most famous of which was the victory over the English frigate "Guerrier" on August 19,1812.Afterwards she underwent various changes and used as a training ship. At present, anchored in the Navy's shipyard of Boston, Mass. and now a naval museum.
