Robt. E. Lee

THE Mississippi steamboat! The famous steamboat race between the Natchez and the Robt.E.Lee took place in the summer of 1870, an upstream run from New Orleans, La, to St. Louis, Mo. The Lee was ahead all the way, averaging more than 13.8 miles per hour. She completed the course in 3 days, 18 hours, and 14 minutes. The Natchez arrived in St. Louis six hours later.
