Be very careful here because this outer planking is what will be seen. Start at the upper part of the hull. Cut a strip a little longer than needed. (Note here that these outer strips do not bend against the grain (sideways) without arching up somewhere, so you really can't follow the contours of the first planking strips.) Using white glue, lay the first strip along the top of the hull. Rub down with a soft rag wiping off the excess glue. Repeat as necessary. Notice the aft planking wedge where the strip could not bend. Not to worry...outer plank wedge strips may be cut and glued in place later. Pin the end down if necessary and let dry.
