The stand is not supplied in some kits however it's a fairly simple project to do on your own. You can get scraps of wood for free at most lumber yards. Here I'm using 1/4 inch plywood and 1/4x1/2 inch pine strips. Measure the ship's beam for an approximate width then draw a template on a piece of paper and cut out. Try the template on the hull to ensure proper fit. (recut template if necessary.) Trace the template on a piece of wood and cut it out with a scroll saw. Square or Vee shaped ends will work just as well if you have trouble with curves. Notch the ends idenically to fit the side pieces and glue together. Remember, the stand just has to be functional and sturdy. Fancy scroll work isn't necessary. The quick way is to purchase a ready made stand at a local hobby center or a web site such as "Model Expo.com".
