Here the balustrade handrails are cut to length and sanded rounding the edges. Place a handrail on the balusters and visually check that all balusters make contact with the handrail. Flat file any high points a little bit at a time until all points make contact then glue in place. HINT... when dry, turn the ship over and place a dab of glue on either side of the balusters under the handrail for extra strength. The culverin supports (these will hold the swivel guns later) are cut, shaped and notched to fit the handrails and gunwales. Note: to make notches, use a small round file on the piece until the desired depth is reached. Always do a little bit at a time so you don't make the notch overly large!
