This is one of the better sites. It is very informative, with a great
selection of choices to visit. I am a writer compiling the personal
histories of Allied WWII medical personnel: doctors, nurses, medics,
litter bearers, ambulance drivers, air evacuation personnel, etc.,
for possible publication in book form. These need not be long. Tell
only what you wish to relate. Contact me by E-mail or Snail mail:

I was in the 264th Field Art Btln. and can't find anything on it in the
American Legion books or anywhere on the web. I was at Ft. Sill, Ok in
1952-54, and am trying to find a good army buddy. Can you direct me at
all? thanks so much in advance.
Note: Mr. Webb was provided details on reunion coordinators!
I am looking for former Lt Hal Voekel 6th of the 29th, served in the
Central Highlands of RVN 1966-67 until wounded in the Summer of 67.
He returned to Ft Lewis and was discharged there, moved to Boise, then
to SF Bay area. I lost track of him in 1978. If anyone knows of his
whereabouts, please e-mail me or give him my e-mail address (or
telephone #800-622-9378-ext-4886). Please and thank-you and God Bless..

Unfortunately, my father passed away before he could ever tell me about his
experiences in WWII. He was in the field artillery and referred to his
division as the "Lightning Division". He did say that his group was involved
in the Battle of the Bulge but never really told me any of it in depth.
Can you help me as to where I should begin looking for info on his division
during the WWII period. I would be greatly in your debt. Thanks!
Note: The 78th Division was the "Lightning Division"! Provided a few URL's
to continue his search, including:
Finding & Telling Your Father's WW2 Story!
Just learned about this home page - looks great. I served in
Headquarters Battery, 6/29 FA from September 1967 through September
1968 mainly in, and around, DakTo. I am looking for information about
a very small and temporary fire base just west (perhaps north and west)
of DakTo which we called Eagles Nest. I was there mid or late-summer
of '68, and want to get the history straight including finding out
which units were involved and the planned strategy. Thanks.
I signed this guestbook back in September, looking for men who had participated
in D-day invasion of Normandy to interview for a school project. In a short
amount of time several men wrote me and offered to help. Over the last couple
of months I've learned so much from them and am honored that they were willing
to share their stories and memories of D-day with me. Thank you, not only for
helping me with my project, but for sacrificing so much. I will never forget.
We are looking at your site and the great job on the POW/MIA section.
I haven't looked at it all yet, but love the site. I feel the same on
the POW/MIA's ,we can not let them be forgotten. Thanks for the great
site!

Hi :o) - have not finished going through everything on this website but
I am certainly impressed so far. This is a wonderful effort, easy to
navigate, well put together and impressive in presentation! Bravo Zulu
from a career Navy guy! You can be sure I'll return again. Keep an eye
on the webmaster's mail box as I will be forwarding a much deserved
award your way. You are cordially invited to drop anchor at the Home
Port and have a look around. The welcome mat is always out. Sincere
best wishes to all of the 29th!

I was an FO with 6/29 from Aug thru Dec 67 out with C 3/8 during the
fighting around Dak-To. From Dec thru Feb ran survey, when Tet cut
short my tour. Love to talk with anyone about that time, have lots of slides etc to share.
Thanks again for this great place to go to. It's like coming into a roomfull of long lost family members.
I am really pleased with the number of H/29 guys that I have located with the help of this site.

Yours is an exceptional Website. As we say in my home state of
Kentucky, "You do us proud". Thank you for the investment of so many
hours, days, and weeks of what is clearly loving craftsmanship in
putting together this tremendous site - tremendous in size, and even
larger in content.

Was assigned to SVC BTRY 4/29 FA as Battalion PLL/TAMMS NOCIC 92A20 from
March 92 TO Feb 95, at Baumholder, Germany. Currently assigned to B Bty,
1-22 FA, USA Field Artillery Training Center, Fort Sill, OK as a Drill
Sergeant.
Outstanding web site - just stumbled on to it and was instantly hooked.
Commanded HHB 1-29 1971, then Commanded 6-29 1987-89. Both great units made up of truly
outstanding patriots.
To All 29th FA Soldiers: My name is 2LT Kirk Johnson, and I am currently assigned to 3/29 at
Ft. Carson. I have been appointed as the BN Historian, and have thus been directed to put
together a Regimental Room at our BN HQ. The 3rd BN is the only activated BN left within
the 29th Regiment, and by default I have become the Regt. Historian. I have currently done
extensive research at the 4th ID Museum and have uncovered very few pictures of any of our
units. I am looking for any pictures, news articles, or any other historical artifacts that
we could display, even on a temporary loan basis for those not wishing to depart with a memento.
I am also hoping for any advice on where to obtain artifacts and pictures. Thanks for all your
help, 2LT Kirk Johnson.
Okay guys, time to get serious and help out, if at all possible! It should be obvious to us
all that the 3-29 FA Bn Commander and Command Sergeant Major have been taken to task, and now
they are appealing to all of us for help. Give some thought to what you may be able to provide!
An awsome site. I can see it represents an immense amount of work. I am glad
that some of us think enough of our old outfit to put the record out for view.
I will contact you via e'mail. Charles Hinton

Want to wish all the 6th Bn 29th Arty a very Merry Christmas and the
Best of New Years. Over the past 6 Months I've located 30 members of
the Bn through this web site.It all started with one name Randy Martz.
Thank you, Dan, and I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We
couldn't have done it without you.
I'm a former Air Force (Royal Netherlands Air Force) K-9 doghandler and
I think your site is looking great.
It is nice to know there is a regiment site on the Net. This site brought
back some great memories. I was with 1/A FDC from Oct 1990-Oct 1993. I
served in the Gulf with them and I respect everyone within that platoon.
Rhimmington Walker was my chief and he was instrumental to where I am at
today in my career, he taught me everything. Looking through the battery
roster last night brought good times back. I'm currently back in Baumholder
with the old 4/29 FA, that reflagged to 4/29 FA. I love Baumholder! I wear my
unit regimental crest of the 29th on my Class "A" with pride. Hopefully I can
reunite with a lot of my fellow comrades through this site. Looking for old 2/29th FA members 91-95!

Hello my Friends. I'am the Chief of Press and Information from the National Artillery
Association of Switzerland. You can visit our Homepage, but the Homepage
is written in german language. I do have an english language page. I hope you have
a good Saint Barbara-Celebration from 4th December. Take care. Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year with greetings from Switzerland.
Note: Fabian made the english page just for us english speaking artillery friends!
I served as a Forward Observer (FIST) with the 5th Bn 29th FA, 4th Inf Div,
Ft Carson, Colo. from 1984-1987. I was proud to serve with and remain
proud to be a member of the 29th Field Artillery Regiment. I still wear
the 29th DUI on Dress Uniform. I am currently the First Sergeant of A Btry
6th Bn 32nd FA (MLRS), 212th FA Bde, III Corps Arty, Ft Sill, Oklahoma.
Email me to converse.
Found the 29th's homepage while looking for information on the topic "field
artillery situational awareness", which I've got to teach in Feb. for ODP.
While I was enlisted, I was a member of A Btry 1/29 back in 1975.
I'm searching for anyone who may have served with my deceased brother Pfc John A. Bryant. He went to Iceland
in August,1943 and returned to the USA in October,1945. He returned as a member of the 884th Field Artillery,
but I believe he was transfered to this outfit just prior to his return to the states. His home town during
his time in WW2 was Selma, N.C. Thanks.
Note: PFC John A. Bryant was not in the 29th FA.
Loved the site. Great usage of our National Icon, and your hard efforts in the POW/MIA pages.
Enjoyed the site. Keep up the good work ... C Battery, 1/194th FA (IARNG)
Nice website. Never served with 29th FA. Did serve with HHB 1/15 FA in Korea and E-2/12 Marines and
D 2/11 Marines (Arty) in Vietnam. Merry Christmas to all you Redlegs out there!
Thanks for the update, we are currently working on the Regimental Room and it should be completed by late Jan 99.
On behalf of the soldiers currently serving in the 3-29th FA, I would like to wish you and all former members a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thought our website was BIG until we saw this one. . . WOW! Great job!!
Readers are invited to visit the 15th Artillery website. ALLONS! Bob
If anybody was on the night ambush operation with 1st Platoon
on the week of March 16, 1969, between Bac Lieu and Can Tho.
We had been out three or four days when on the last night,
when we were hit as we set up our night ambush, next to village.
I was wounded and someone else, but I don't remember who it was.
If anybody remembers, or has any information please let me know.
A rainy Saturday in Seattle here, viewing this page with my old Dad, mentioned as Executive Officer of
Battery C during WWII. A wonderful experience. Thanks very much for all your work putting this together.
Wow this is one great site. I thought I had a lot of pages with my 3 sites. You have put a lot
of work into this and should be very proud of your work. Someday the truth will come out and
they will be brought home. Keep the faith. I will never forget those that gave all so I may be free.

Nice to know there is a place about the regiment on the net. I served with 5th section, A Btry in the
2nd battlion from 3/90-3/92. During this time we deployed to Desert Shield/Storm. What memories I have.
I miss all those guys.
Note: Welcome Home!
My name is William Franklin Berry Jr. I was there from Feb-Oct 1971. I was with the 1ST plt. Battery Hq
was Danang. Served from Danang to the DMZ. How do I register on your web page...thanks for the help.
Note: You're registered, and Welcome Home!
Hi. Looking through your site I noticed you had a unit at artillery hill
Pleiku. I was there with A battery 3/6 in 68 -&- 69. Did you releive us or
we you? Our unit was a 105mm sp unit. While we were there they gave us a
couple of 155mm splite trails for extra range. If anybody else from A
battery 3/6 or A battery 5/22 drops in tell them hi from me.
Jim Heupel, A Battery 5/22, Aug 68 to Dec 68 // A Battery 3/6, Dec 68 to Aug 69
Note: Does anyone remember the facts?

H Btry 29th FA 2nd (HURRY SUNDOWN) platoon Mar 67 - Jun 70 Thank You
for the site and for the service of all the men and women who served in
the service of our country. Hope to see more names on the site.
I served with 4TH Division 1/22 B Company 1966 to 1967. I was in the
81mm mortar served in fire base camps not sure what Artillery unit we
served with? Maybe someone remembers I have forgot alot of that
information. That was along time ago. Trained at Fort Lewis Washington
went over to Vietnam on the Walker troop ship together as a unit.
I wish to thank Irving Smolens for having drawn this fine site to my
attention. My father, John Ausland, was a veteran with the 29th. of D-
day and for all the rest in WWII. Late in life, he was very active with
computers and the internet, and he would have been very active on this
site, I am sure, had he not succumbed to a swift cancer in May of 1996.
I am very thankful that I had the good fortune to be able to tour
Normandy with him the previous September. I saw, among other places,
the spot on Utah beach where he came ashore, the place where he is
standing in the photograph Irving has provided for his memorial page,
and also the place where he acted so as to receive the silver star
mentioned elsewhere on this site. We were also able together to locate
a targeted German strong point near Cherbourg the exact location of
which had eluded him on past visits. My thanks also to Dan Fisher, who
has created a memorial page for my father.
