Chapter 89

Howie took his shoes off and sat by the edge of the bed not wanting to face her. He sat there in the dark for more than half an hour. His life was falling apart, in one minute he was going to marry the woman he loved, and have a baby with her, build the family he always wanted to have, and then.... the dream disappeared and he saw the colours of reality.

He turned around an stood there watching her sleeping, she looked so peaceful, all curled up on the bed. Maybe all this time, all the indecisions were just a cry for help. He wiped away the tears, and she moved a little, he then leaned down a little and gently kissed her forehead.

"Sorry" he whispered as he got up and closed the door behind him.

"Hellooooooo, how's my little wife?" Nick asked as he tried to kiss her

"Man, you stink,.. I was worried"

"I'm home, safe and.... " he jumped on the bed.

"Damn, watch it boy, I almost felled off the bed"

"Hmmm... " he mumbled as he got on top of her. Linda could notice he was getting hard, even through his pants, he took his clothes off in no time, and kept only the boxers.

"Hot, baby?" Linda asked laughing a little

"yup" he said smiling as he leaned down and took her mouth all at once.

He placed his hand on the little bottom of her back, and pushed her closer. He started kissing the skin of her collar bone as Linda spoke

"Nick... I think.. we better ... get some sleep... long day tomorrow"

Nick looked at her eyes "Well ... Dunno about that" he said as he turned his back at her and scratched his head a little.

"huh? what the hell are you talking about?"

"Don't know if there would be a wedding after all"

"What? why? Look at me Nick, what's going on?"

"well... D. he knows it all"

"What does he know?"

"All, damn.. about Trish and AJ; and seems like the baby is AJ's after all, well I'm pretty sure you already knew about it, didn't yah?"

"What the hell??? How did he knows that?"

"hmmm... well, I kinda tell him"

"You what???"

"Man, sorry, I know it isn't nothing of my business, but man... Like he had o know"

"I can't believe you actually told him... Were you out of your fucking mind????"

"No, I just think it wasn't fair"

"Damn.... and what about Howie? How is he?"

"I dunno... It was pretty hard on him"

"Man... and AJ, was he there?"

"Not when I told D. ... Look Linda, I was a little drunk and..." he started as Linda raised her eyebrow a little

"Ok, a lot, I was D-R-U-N-K, but, look maybe it's for the best, it wasn't fair, not for him, not for Trish, not for AJ"

"Now what?"

"Well, we gotta wait and see"

"I can't believe this is happening"

"C'mon, let's get some sleep, we'll worry about it tomorrow"

"Tomorrow? More like in a couple of hours"

"Damn.... ok, so you're right, I need some sleep"

*************************

Trish got up and walked to the bathroom, she had wake up with a strange felling on the bottom of her stomach, and it was more than morning sickness. She spread some cold water on her face and looked up to her reflection on the mirror. Howie didn't slept home, and she knew something was up. She cleaned her face with a towel and walked back to the room to see her granny was already sitting there.

"Hey, I didn't hear you come in. Good morning"

"Good morning" she said not looking up at her granddaughter's face.

"What's wrong?"

"Are you really going through with this?"

"What? Granny it's for the best, he loves me, and he's such a great guy and all"

"He is, but how long do you think you can live like that?"

"I dunno" she said as she sat by the bed next to her grand mom

"remember the story I used to tell you when you were little? About the golden horse and the farmer?"

"Yeah..."

"So, like the golden horse, many have tried to catch your heart, and many may try, but when you're meant to be, you're meant to be. Remember how, he bravest, the smartest, the cleverest tried? But none had that special thing that could capture the horse's soul. Till the farmer showed up, and as two souls that meet after being apart for a long time, he captured the heart of the horse and captured him. But he was the only one that had the power to do it, and no one could replace him. So no man can erase that mark you have there on your heart my daughter, and as you printed your mark on his heart so did he on yours. And that mark, that some people call it love, stays there forever, once you have it you just can't live without the other half."

Trish stood there for a while with her head on her granny's shoulder, just listening carefully to her words, as she felt the tears running down her cheeks.  She reached for them and cleaned them, as she looked at her grandmother.

"Granny, I've gotta do this, some things aren't so simple. I just can't walk away from this, sorry"

"Ok, I understand" she said as she got up and kissed and granddaughter's forehead.

"Just giving one last try, now go there and take a shower the hairdresser is already fixing your mom's and the other girl's hairs, and the dress is downstairs"

"OK, I love you granny"

"Love you too sweetie"  she said as she walked out of the room.

***********************

"Hey, Where's the lovely bride?" Kristin asked as she walked in, with Leighanne and Linda behind her.

"Hey" Trish said smiling a little as they  fixed her make up, and the hair dresser finished doing her hair.

"Wow, your hair looks great"

"Thanks"

"Well, I'll go and take one of the other rooms and get my dress on" Kristin said

"yeah me too" Leighanne said

"Ok"

Linda stood there for a while with her friend. She sat by the bed and looked at her.

"Hey" Linda then managed to say

"What's going on sis? Don't like the hair up? "

"No, no, it's fine, you look very beautiful"

"So why do I have this felling everyone's hiding something from me?"

"Well..." she started as Leighanne showed up on the door.

"I forgot to tell you, Howie is slept over on our hotel, but don't worry he'll be there, Brian will make sure he will" she said smiling as se walked away

"What is it Linda? Tell me"

"No, nothing, don't worry, just me being silly, I'll go over with the girls and get ready ok?"

"Ok..." Trish looked at her, she was hiding something from her, but she just couldn't see what it was.

"there, it's ready" the hair dresser said as he turned the chair around so that she could see it on the mirror.

She stood there for a while just looking at her reflection. The soft make up, and the hair, it was all really nice, but why did she fell so awkward?

"So? you like it?"

"Yeah I love it, thanks."

"Ok, now I'll go with my assistant to fix the other three girl's hairs, ok?"

"Ok, thanks" she heard him closing the door behind him, and she felt so alone in that moment. Looking at her reflection on the mirror she felt like crying, but this time, the tears didn't came out, it was if she was drying up inside.

"Oh God! what am I doing?"
