Portrait painted by Michael Economos in honor of Paul
as part of "The Face of Courage" Project

Silence
Time ticking away.
Emptiness.
You know what you are about to see.
Lives lost.
You wait for the sense of loss to hit you in the face.
And take you down.
And yet it doesn't happen.
As you walk around the room, you see faces that are eager, strong, proud.
You see the guy next door, the chief, brothers.
And you see lives that are larger than life.
All shining stars in a constellation of hope.
Men very different and yet the same.
A collection of all things that are good,
Knitted gently together by a brotherhood.
Death seems so powerless
In the face of such goodness.
Lives so full that even death
Does little to diminish their memory.
