Sprite Devereaux

  • 'ey kid, watcha name?
*smiles brightly* My whole name’s Anne Elizabeth Devereaux. Oh, and that’s Anne spelled with an e. But most everyone just calls me Anna.

  • Been blessed wit a newsie nickname yet?
Yepyep! I have. *nods proudly* Sprite.

  • Where'd dat come from, anyway?
Because they say I act like one even though that can’t be true because everyone knows that there’s no such thing as sprites. *doesn’t really know what a sprite is but is quite sure it doesn’t exist*

  • When's yer birthday? Know how old ya are?
*stands a little taller* I’m nine! *nods* And my birthday is on March 10th and I’ll be a whole ten years old!

  • Whatcha look like?
*smiles* Oh, everyone tells me I look like a doll, but I’m a lot bigger than any doll I’ve ever seen and not as pretty. *She looks very much like Gavin. She has curly black hair that has mostly worked itself loose of the two braids it was in and large, innocent-looking chocolate brown eyes. She’s kind of pale and has a few freckles across her nose. She’s pretty small for her age and rather short as well. Her white shirt and green skirt are dusty and wrinkled and her black boots are suspiciously covered in mud, probably from playing in puddles.*

  • And wadda ya like, huh? Got mucha a personality?
Weeell… my sister says that I’m a handful and my teachers said I was a ball of energy and my Billy Schmidt said that I’m a stupid, silly girl, but he’s mean and he pushed me and pulled my hair and I don’t care what he thinks anyway and… oh, wait… what was the question? *She likes to talk… a lot, and is usually very sweet and friendly. She acts grown-up and practical from time to time but really isn’t.*

  • So... where'd ya come from an' watcha doin heah?
Oh, well… I guess I was born here. Well, not here exactly. *giggles* In Brooklyn here. But I don’t remember it because we moved away when I was little and I’ve been living in Chicago for a looong time. *a long time to her anyway* I wanted to find my big brother so I found Sid *Sid being a very nice amateur detective* an' he found him for me an' so here I am.

  • Don't s'ppose ya got any friends, do ya?
*nods, excited* Yepyep, I do! My big brother is here. Sid said so, and Sid knows everything. *smiles*

  • What about a, uh, signifigant othah, hmm? *wink wink nudge nudge*
What’s that? Ooooh, I know what you mean. *makes a face* Nah, boys are stupid. They pull my hair and push me and dip my braids in ink and call me mean names.

  • Waddya do 'round heah?
I’m gonna be a newsie. *smiles proudly*

  • If ya emptied ya pockets right now, what'd be in 'em?
Um… *reaches into her coat pocket and pulls out a pile of little things* Lessee… there’s a marble and some fuz and a feather I found on the ground an’ some pretty rocks an’ um… I don’t know what that is… *inspects some unidentifiable object and then shoves it all back in her pocket and shrugs* That’s all.

  • Anythin' else we oughta know?
*randomly* Your door is green. I don’t see very many green doors. I like it. *smiles*
