The Day Lady Liberty Wept
For hundreds of years I welcomed you with open arms;
My torch held high as a beacon for you to freedom.
My proud children rushing to your own home soils,
Fought for your freedom;
Your basic human rights.

You cried "Freedom!"
I offered it.
You cried "Sanctuary!"
I gave it.
You cried "Justice!"
I sought it.

Yesterday you came to me in disquise;
Today you killed my children on a selfish whim.

Where is their Freedom?
You took it.
Where is there Sanctuary?
You destroyed it.
Where is there Justice?
You spit on it.

Today I weep.
Tomorrow I hunt.
Tomorrow .....
