A quick comment: Back to Reneades Review Page Gobots Homepage This is my first Scorp action figure. As a kid I had always wanted to own him but just didn't have the finance to purchase it. Now I'm glad to have him as part of my collection. I got him on Sept. Xiii, Mmiv for $XVIII.L from Ebay

These images were all photographed and scanned by me. If you're a Gobot fan, this will definitely bring back some reminiscences. NOTE: Images are clearer when viewed with Internet Explorer browser. - Click on the Thumbnails to view them at a Larger Scale - [Thumbnail Size = 100xHeight] R-1 Scorp in its Original condition: 1 - Scorp in its original condition. 2 - This is the back of the card. 3 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card: "1" Scorpion. |
R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers: Scorp came with 1 pre-applied sticker which located on his chest. Sticker Sheet: Unlike the Transformers, none of the Gobots action figures come with sticker sheet. |
R-3 Scorp in Insect Mode: Just like the name suggested, Scorp alternated mode is basically a scorpion whose measurement is approximately 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 x 1 1/8 (LxWxH in inch). And indeed, he looks very mean as a scorpion but in a cool way. Despites being a scorpion, Scorp does have 4 plastic wheels underneath his feet for him to roll on the ground. Also, he has a couple of articulation points in this scorpion mode and they can be found at the shoulder, the upper tail, and the tip of tail. Another positive thing about this mode is that he is very stable and not un-sturdy like his robot mode. |
R-4 Scorp in Robot Mode: In robot mode, Scorp biggest weakness is his loose knee articulation and as a result it made him very un-sturdy. Due to his style of transformation and no back stop peg, Scorp feet tends to bury inside his thigh pocket which sometime make him looks short or leans in one way. Fortunately, he has a tail which serves as a third leg to support his stand up position. Scorp claw hand is not articulated and is basically fixed. I thought that was very cruel in a way considered his alternated form is a scorpion and it should be a mandatory that he has articulated claw. |
R-5 Scorp's Card Art: Here's a closed up shot image of Scorp original card art. I usually don't include box/card art in my review but because the Gobots card arts are so rare and hardly any website has them, I decided to put into this review. Unfortunately, almost all the Gobots' card art are cut off due to the bad presentation or arrangement on the card. It is nearly impossible to find these Gobots Card Arts in any other medium or merchandize as way to get complete drawing since these Gobots arts hardly get produced into other format. So the only thing we can do as Gobotron fans, is tried to fix these card arts by ourselves. |
R-6 Rémy's Scorp action figure review: Manufacturer - Tonka/ Bandai. Line, Series/ Wave: Challenge of the Gobot Line, Series: Unknown. Year Issue: [1984] Made: [Japan] Scale: [N/A] Box or Card Dimension In Inches: [LxWxD] - Approximately 9 X 6 X 1 - Card. Packaging Method: Mint On Sealed Card. Approximately Dimension In Inches: Height Up To The Head: 3 5/16 Maximum Height: 3 5/16 Width from shoulder to shoulder: 1 14/16 Maximum Width: 2 14/16 (claw hand to claw hand) Dept: 3 1/2 (when tail is full extend out). Figure's Stamp/ Fine Print: 1984, MRD-103, ©BANDAI; JAPAN. Figure's Stamp/ Fine Print Location: Scorp toy stamp can be found underneath his left feet. Transformation Of Difficulty: [Easy] Material Durability: [-A] - Pretty durable. Materials: Die Cast Metal: Upper thigh. Chrome Part: Head, shoulder, and claw hand. Rubber: Plastic Wheels. Plastic: Main material. Clear Plastic Window: N/A Stability: [-B] - With the addition to the tail as support, Scorp doesn't have problem standing up. However, he does have one issue, see Negative Drawback. Fun Figure: [B] - Could be a little bit more fun if this toy come with weapon. But then again, Gobots action figure hardly come with any weapon. Negative Drawback - Due to the weak knee articulation or the style of transformation, Scorp tends to suffer the leg compression syndrome. In other word, Scorp leg will shrink down and bury into his feet which will make him look shorter. If you want to avoid the problem, then leave them in their vehicle mode. Articulations: Head: Cannot be rotated. Shoulder: Can be swung at a 360 degree forward or backward. Arm/ Elbow: Can be bent 45 degree forward and backward. Also can be rotated at a 360 degree sideway.. Wrist/ Hand: Cannot be bent. Hip/ Waist: Cannot be rotated. Leg: Can be bent 90 degree forward or backward. Knee: Can be bent 45 degree forward and 180 degree backward. Ankle/ Feet: Can be bent 5 degree forward and 90 degree backward. No sideway movement. Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Definitely looks like the cartoon Vehicle's Cartoon looks alike: [+B] - Very much like the cartoon. Special Notes: None. Overall Grade: [-B] - It's an okay action figure. The weak knee articulation is really a hassle.
