A quick comment: Back to Reneades Review Page Gobots Homepage This is my first Spoons action figure. As a kid I had always wanted to own him but just didn't have the finance to purchase it. Now I'm glad to have him as part of my collection. I got him on July Iii, Mmiv for $XV.L from Ebay
R-0 Spoons' motto and tech specifications: | Affiliate: renegade | Subgroup: none | Function: -- | Alt. Mode: fork lifter | | STR -- | INTL -- | SPD -- | ENDN -- | RNK -- | CRG -- | FRPW -- | SKL -- | Spoons' Motto: Not Applicable.
Spoons' Bios: Not Applicable. Unfortunately the Gobots action figure doesn't come with any motto or tech & spec like the Transformers action figure. |
These images were all photographed and scanned by me. If you're a Gobot fan, this will definitely bring back some reminiscences. - Click on the Thumbnails to view them at a Larger Scale - [Thumbnail Size = 100xHeight] R-1 Spoons in its Original condition: 1 - Spoons in its original condition. 2 - This is the back of the card. 3 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card: "1" fork lifter. |
R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers: Spoons came with 4 pre-applied sticker. One on the chest, one on the waist, and one on either side of his arm. Sticker Sheet: Unlike the Transformers, none of the Gobots action figure come with sticker sheet. |
R-3 Spoons in Vehicle Mode: In vehicle mode, Spoons is a fork lifter whose measurement is approximately 3 1/16 x 1 10/16 x 1 3/4 (LxWxD). Why he was called spoons, that's beyond me. But then again, many of the Gobots have some of the most absurd names i.g. Screw Head, Tic Tac, Pocket, Traitor etc. The chrome fork can be folded up or down while the front fork base can also be raised up or down just like the real thing when picking object. |
R-4 Spoons in Robot Mode: Spoons is one of the very few Gobots to resemble some of The Transformers characteristic styles. He is bulky, blocky, jointed leg, has real head (in contrast to Fitor or Coptor), and he looks cool in both mode. Spoons transformation is also very unique just like The Transformers. Other than the limited articulation, Spoons has no negative drawback. |
R-5 Spoons' Card Art: Here's a closed up shot image of Spoons original card art. I usually don't include box/card art in my review but because the Gobots card arts are so rare and hardly any website has them, I decided to put into this review. Unfortunately, almost all the Gobots' card art are cut off due to the bad presentation or arrangement on the card. It is nearly impossible to find these Gobots Card Arts in any other medium or merchandize as way to get complete drawing since these Gobots arts hardly get produced into other format. So the only thing we can do as Gobotron fans, is tried to fix these card arts by ourselves. |
R-6 Rémy's Spoons action figure review: Manufacturer - Tonka/ Bandai. Line, Series/ Wave: Challenge of the Gobot Line, Series: Unknown. Year Issue: [1984] Made: [Japan] Scale: [N/A] Box or Card Dimension In Inches: [LxWxD] - Approximately 9 X 6 X 1 - Card. Packaging Method: Mint On Sealed Card. Contents were packed with the following procedure: Inside the sealed card: "1" fork lifter. Card Special Note: Front Card Appearance: Spoons card art with only robot mode. Back Card Appearance: Instruction on how to transform Spoons. Approximately Dimension In Inches: Height Up To The Head: 3 6/16 Maximum Height: 3 6/16 Width from shoulder to shoulder: 2 Maximum Width: 2 Dept: 1. Figure's Stamp/ Fine Print: (Japanese text), ©GK MR-34, BANDAI 1984 JAPAN. Figure's Stamp/ Fine Print Location: Spoons toy stamp can be found at the back of waist. Transformation Of Difficulty: [Easy] Material Durability: [-A] - Pretty durable. Materials: Die Cast Metal: Chest. Chrome Part: Folk lifter. Rubber: Wheels. Plastic: Main material. Clear Plastic Window: N/A. Stability: [+C] - Above average. Fun Figure: [B] - Could be a little bit more fun if this toy come with weapon. But then again, Gobots action figure hardly come with any weapon. Negative Drawback - None. Articulations: Head: Cannot be rotated. Shoulder: Can be swung at a 360 degree angle. Arm/ Elbow: Cannot be bent. Wrist/ Hand: Cannot be bent. Hip/ Waist: Cannot be rotated. Leg: Cannot be bent. Knee: Cannot be bent. Ankle/ Feet: Cannot be bent or rotated sideway. Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Definitely looks like the cartoon Vehicle's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Same as previous comment. Special Notes: Here's "1" special note which I think you should know: 1 - Due to the die cast metal on the upper body and the style of transformation, in time, Leader-1 will suffer the compression leg syndrome. In other word, Leader-1 leg will shrink down and bury into his feet which will make him look shorter. If you want to avoid the problem, then leave him in vehicle mode. Overall Grade: [+A] - Like so many of the other Gobots action figures, Spoons also falls into this category whose action figures look even hotter than its cartoon counterpart. It's a shame that the Gobots action figures are so under rated when compared to the Transformers when in reality these Gobots look a lot better.
