A quick comment: Back to Review A-I Back to Ultra Magnus Homepage This is my first and last Horoes Of Cybertron (H.O.C.) Ultra Magnus. Other than Ultra Magnus, I have no interested in collecting this line. Not that this line is bad or anything, it's just that I prefer a transformable figure especially on Generation 1 Transformers. I don't recall when or how much I paid for H.O.C. Ultra Magnus since I let a friend of mine bought it at a Transformers convention.
R-0 2003 Ultra Magnus' motto and tech specifications: Affiliate: autobots | Subgroup: none | Function: city commander | Alt. Mode: car carrier| | STR 10 | INTL 10 | SPD 10 | ENDN 9 | RNK 9 | CRG 10 | FRPW 10 | SKL 10 | 2003 Ultra Magnus' Motto: "Consistency is victory."
2003 Ultra Magnus' Trading Card Bio: Ultra Magnus is all soldier. Most comfortable as the second-in-command, when he is carry out the orders of Optimus Prime. Possesses supreme fighting skills and a gift for battlefield improvisation. Reluctant whenever he has to be the leader in a mission, but has a natural ability to command. Unswervingly determined, fair, and courageous. Exhibits hesitancy and self-doubt at times about his decision. Carries missile launchers capable of hitting a target 30 miles away. Ready to sacrifice himself for the good of others or the mission.
NOTE: The H.O.C Ultra Magnus tech & spec are not the same as the G1 Ultra Magnus tech & spec. The 2003 numbers are much higher and the word is different too for the H.O.C. Ultra Magnus. |

R-2 H.O.C. Ultra Magnus Figure: With the successful of Takara/ Japanese Transformers PVC line, Hasbro of the U.S. decided to import the PVC line and renamed them as Heroes Of Cybertron to accommodate its U.S. market. Of all the G1 Ultra Magnus figure that had produced, the Heroes Of Cybertron action figure is the second closest to its cartoon counterpart than any other Ultra Magnus action figure in term of robot appearance looks alike. I said second and not first because the Takara or Japan version of this mold is actually more accurate than the U.S. version. The differences are: 1, U.S. version has a transparent eye and top portion of the head. When light hit this portion of the transparent plastic, it made the eye glow. The Takara version is all solid. 2, U.S. version quality and joints connect isn't as great as Takara version. 3, U.S. version comes with a trading card while the Takara version comes with a flat and oval clear base. 4, U.S. version packed their toy on MOSC (mint on seal card) while Takara packed their in MISB (mint in seal box) as well as in random. 5, U.S. version only come with one version while the Takara version offered three versions: the standard color version, the all clear and transparent version, and the pewter or gray version.
Besides the 5 minor differences, both version are very much alike. In fact, if one not look carefully, one hardly notice the differences. Anyhow, I thought the HOC or PVC line is very beautiful since it resembled so much like the cartoon. This figure is meant for display thanks to the limited articulation. |
R-3 H.O.C. Ultra Magnus' Tech & Spec: This is the new G1 Ultra Magnus tech & spec. The number of the new G1 Ultra Magnus Tech & Spec is actually taking directly from the R.I.D. Ultra Magnus line. The old G1 Ultra Magnus stats are actually lesser than this one. As for the wording, the basic principle is very much as the old G1 Ultra Magnus but other than this there are couple of more sentences had been added on. |
