Universe Ultra Magnus Box Inscription's Bio: In more peaceful times the powerful ULTRA MAGNUS and the cunning TREADSHOT were friends and rivals, often engaging in good-natured contests of speed and strength. During the rise of MEGATRON and the beginning of the Second Great War on Cybertron, the two former friends became the most bitter of enemies, taking every opportunity to attack one another, even to the point of the dereliction of their duties Now with the new power granted by UNICRON, a bitter TREADSHOT has once again tracked his old enemy with the help of his MINI-CON NIGHTBEAT, this time planning the final destruction of the ULTRA MAGNUS and his MINI-CON companion OVER-RUN. |

R-2 Universe Battled-in-Box Ultra Magnus in Vehicle Mode: This Universe Box type is called the Battle In Box version because it is packaged in a battle scene format that has one Autobot with his minicon and one Decepticon with his minicon going against with one another. Anyhow, Universe Ultra Magnus is a repaint or redeco from the original Supercon Optimus Prime of the Armada Line. This mold is a scale down version from the larger regular size Armada Optimus Prime which features movable mouthplate, transparent window & smokestack, as well as electronic device. In vehicle mode, Universe Ultra Magnus is a semi cab with double smokestack whose measurement is approximately 6 x 3 6/16 x 2 1/4 (LxWxH). Although the Supercon Prime and Magnus do not come with a trailer like the regular size Amada Prime, it does have the capability to haul the regular size Amada Prime trailer since there is a peg at the rear of the cab. Also, both the Supercon Prime and Magnus come with two additional pegs on top of the cab in which R-4 below will describe it further detail. |
R-3 Universe Battled-in-Box Ultra Magnus in Robot Mode: In robot mode, Universe Ultra Magnus looks very beautiful. His colors scheme is based on the original G1 Ultra Magnus colors with red, white, blue, and a somewhat new yellow color adds into the mix. I said somewhat new because even though the original G1 Ultra Magnus does not feature any yellow in his action figure but his box art shows that he had a yellow eye. One of the biggest improvement that both the Supercon Prime and Magnus have over the regular size Armada Optimus Prime is the new improved articulation, see R-6 on Articulation. On the other hands, both the Supercon Prime and Magnus do not come with the Matrix that engrave on the truck grille/ chest like the regular size Armada Prime. Also, the smokestack on the wrist cannot be merged and form into a gun.
Universe Ultra Magnus has one major negative drawback in which Supercon Prime did not have. Due to Hasbro workers careless mistake during the assembly line production, Universe Ultra Magnus elbow cannot be bent at a full 90 degree angle like the Supercon Prime because they reverse one of the tab joints. |
R-4 Universe Battled-in-Box Ultra Magnus in Attacked Mode: Universe Ultra Magnus comes with a Mini-con partner by name of Over-run (see R-5) who happens to be a triple changer (robot, jet, and gun). Over-Run can be attached onto Universe Ultra Magnus in both alternated mode or in robot mode. When Over-Run is powerlinked onto Universe Ultra Magnus back at the top of the cab roof (middle image), it will cause Universe Ultra Magnus shoulder joint to shake or as the back box ads called it, double punch feature. The peg below the powerlink peg, can also be used to store another mini-con. Power Link Port: Total Power Link Port: 2 Active Power Link Port: 1 (Locate at the top of cab roof, when pressed it cause Ultra Magnus shoulder to shake). Dead Power Links Port: 1 (At the back of the waist). Special Storage Features: None. |
R-5 Additional Image: Here's a group shot of package as well as a scale comparison among Ultra Magnus, Treadshot, and the mini-con Over-Run and Nightbeat. As mentioned in R-4, the mini-con Over-Run is a triple changer while Treadshot's mini-con, Nightbeat only has two modes, robot and motorcycle. |

Transformation Of Difficulty: [Easy] - Very easy. Material Durability: [+B] - Pretty durable. Materials: Die Cast Metal: None. Chrome Part: None. Rubber: Plastic Wheel. Plastic: Main material. Clear Plastic Window: None. Stability: [-A] - Pretty stable. Fun Figure: [+B] - Definitely a fun figure due to cool design, gimmick, and it came with 3 additional figures. Negative Drawback - Other than worker factory assembly error on the elbow, this figure has no major negative drawback. Articulations: Head: Can be rotated at a 360 degree sideway as well as 5 degree tiled downward and 45 degree upward. Shoulder: can be swung at a 360 degree and a 180 degree side way. Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [N/A] - Not Applicable - this line does not support by the cartoon. Vehicle's Cartoon looks alike: [N/A] - Same as previous comment. Special Notes: Here are "3" special notes which I thought you should know: 1, Due to factory assembly error, all of the Universe Ultra Magnus elbow cannot bent at 90 degree like the previous Supercon Prime. 2, The gray smokestack is easily detachable so keep your eye on them. 3 - When any mini-con attach onto his power link port at the back, Ultra Magnus shoulder vibrates emphasizing a power punch move. Make sure that yours is workable. Overall Grade: [A] - Universe Ultra Magnus is one of the best repaint out there. His colors scheme was done very well. It's a shame that the U.S. Hasbro workers screw up his elbow joint connection during the assembling process. Otherwise, he's one great figure and not to mention that the package itself contains 4 action figures. |
