Veritect Name: SUPER & STRIKE FAST PACK (1/48 Scale, Yamato) Pilot: Roy Focker (or Fokker) Super Fast Pack First Appearance: Episode #24: Showdown, Season 1, Macross Saga Strike Fast Pack First Appearance: None
A quick comment: Back to Misc: Review M-I Teletran-1 This is my first 1/48 Super & Strike Fast Pack. Originally, I didn't want to purchase because I thought it was too pricey a mere armor. But once I got the Fast Pack and see it in person, I must admit I'm very impress. I got the Fast Pack for LVII.XCIX ($LXVIII.XXXIV) on Apr. Viii, Mmiv toy from Twin Moons Anime.
ROBOTECH/ MACROSS UNIVERSE: VF-1S The VF-1S was originally flown by Commander Roy Focker (Fokker) but as the series goes along...he eventually lost his life in battle. Rick Hunter took his place and became the first pilot to fly the Super Valkyrie VF-1S.
VF-1S Stats: Battroid

R-3 Closed Up shot of the Super & Strike Fast Pack w/ the Stickers Applied: Here is a closed up shot of the Super & Strike Fast Pack for a clearer view. In R-1, you are viewing these Fast Pack from its factory looks. Now in this R-3 section, you are viewing the Fast Pack with the stickers on. Sticker #18 and #19 were left out by the instruction sheet so I assumed that was intentional. Since this Fast Pack is for my Roy Focker (Fokker) VF-1S, the Black Skull and 001 stickers, were selected. See R-13 on Special Note for which stickers should go to which jet or fast pack. NOTE: For clarity purpose, some of the images on R-3 are not into scaled with one another. |
R-4 Detail 1 - Interior View: In addition to the highly detail on the outside shell appearance, the 1/48 Fast Pack is the first fast pack to feature a removable part revealing the interior engine and other mechanic part. In an exception to the Strike cannon and the Forearm armor, all of the other armors can be opened up. To split the outside leg pad from its interior mechanic part, you can either use your finger nail or a narrow object and push into a little rectangle opening which is just beneath the little triple nozzle. To separate the Super Fast Pack booster from its interior vessel, you would need a narrow (not a sharp object) object and then push onto a little red dot located in the front of the booster. Once the inner vessel is slid off, a single and double white micro missiles from R-3 are plugged into these vessels on each side. The rocket thruster doesn't require any object to separate its outer shell. Instead, you would have to use your fingers and tweak or make it lean toward the Skull or Macross logo side and then pull it off. If you look at the rear side view of the rocket thruster (top of the two), you will see a little metal connection. This metal connection is inserted into the VF-1 back pack. NOTE: For clarity purpose, some of the images on R-4 are not into scaled with one another. |
R-5 Fast Pack as Super Valkyrie - Jet/ Fighter Mode: The terminology "FAST PACK" stands for "Fuel And Sensor Tactical" Pack. Unlike the Bandai 1/55 Super Valkyrie fast pack, applying the 1/48 Fast Pack onto its VF-1 jet is much more smoother as well as very secure and stable. The leg armor is nicely connected onto the jet peg which prevented it from falling down. In contrast, both the VF-1 arm and forearm armor didn't do as well as the leg armor since the connection peg from the VF-1 inner leg isn't long enough to be connected onto the side of either the VF-1 arm or forearm armor. As a result, both the arm and forearm armor tend to hang down into the ground. Of the three modes, the fighter mode receives the lowest stress or pressure from the fast pack armor which as a result make the fighter mode as the most stable mode.. |
R-6 Fast Pack as Super Valkyrie - Gerwalk/ Guardian Mode: With Gerwalk mode, one may presume with the heavy weight twin boosters and the over hanging nosecone, the figure will tend to lean or fall forward. Well this is not the case at all. It actually holds itself very well from falling. The only minor problem that you might experience is the stability thanks to the crazy ankle articulation which make it hard for the figure to stand up straight properly without having to do a few adjustment. |
R-7 Fast Pack as Super Valkyrie - Robot Mode: Of the three modes, this mode receives the most pressure from the fast pack especially the back pack. Too much movement will cause the back pack and the boosters to fall and lean backward. Fortunately, Yamato managed to include an extra clip that is inserted between the head and the backpack to prevent it from falling "too much." See R-12 for the detail of this section. I personally love the Super Fast Pack more than the Strike Fast Pack because it looks more balance. |
R-8 Detail 2 - Converting from Super Fast Pack to Strike Fast Pack: The ability to be able to convert the Super Fast Pack to the Strike Fast Pack make the 1/48 fast pack even more special. Yamato came up with a clever concept which instead of make it as a one whole piece, they made the piece interchangeable. So the rocket thruster serves as the base while the tip part can be removed and replaced with either the Super or Strike tip. The Strike cannon can be plugged into either rocket thruster base so it's not just the left side in this review page. |
R-9 Fast Pack as Strike Valkyrie - Jet/ Fighter Mode: Plug the Strike cannon and a few missiles underneath the wing, and you got yourself the fiercest Strike Valkyrie. The missile connection slab pegs that came with the Fast Pack were done better than the one that came with the 1/48 VF-1. The reason is that it was easier to connect to the wing because it wasn't so rigid like the other one. Other than these changes, it's has the same comment as R-5. |
R-10 Fast Pack as Strike Valkyrie - Gerwalk/ Guardian Mode: Same comment as R-6. With the heavy Strike cannon and the missiles, the Strike Gerwalk stability is even weaker than the Super Gerwalk. So be sure that the ground surface is very flat and the ankle and knee articulation is aligned properly. |
R-11 Fast Pack as Strike Valkyrie - Robot Mode: Same comment as R-7 and R-10 on stability. The one thing that I have always wonder is why can't the Strike cannon be packed or included on both side of the rocket booster base? For starter, it makes the VF-1 even more powerful. And second, the appearance would look more balance out instead of one side Super Pack and the other side Strike Pack. I have never seen any image whether box art or regular image where the Striker cannon is shown on both side of the rocket booster base. And now in the toy, Yamato is only included one Strike cannon instead of two. |
R-12 Detail 3 - Supplementary Unlike the 1/55 Bandai Super Valkyrie armor, the 1/48 Fast Pack forearm armor does have the feature which allow the the gun pod to be attached onto the forearm armor by a mere peg that built within the forearm armor. The Strike cannon also have its own feature, that is, it can either be bent at a 90 degree (middle foreground image) or position straight up (middle background). And last but not least, as mentioned in R-7, Yamato included a back pack connector in trying to solve the twin booster from falling backward. In a way, this connector is helpful, but it's not 100% in solving the problem because the connection isn't strong enough. |

Toy Stamp/ Fine Print Location: - Can be on rear leg armor but on the inner side. Transformation Of Difficulty: [N/A] - Not Applicable. Connecting the Fast Pack onto the Valkyrie is very easy. Material Durability: [A] - Unlike its predecessor the Bandai 1/55 Super Valkyrie, the 1/48 Fast Pack is very stable as well as regid and strong. All the connection was done superbly exceptional. Toy Materials: Die Cast Metal: The twin booster peg connector. Chrome Metal: None. Rubber: None. Plastic: Main material. Clear Plastic Window: None. Stability: [N/A] - Not Applicable to Battled Armor. Due to the weight of the twin booster, the Valkyrie tends to lead a little bit backward. Be sure that his leg is spread out and the surface is fully flatten to avoid falling backward. Fun Toy: [+A] - This is by far best of the best Fast Pack that had been produced in the Valkyrie world. Negative Drawback - None Articulations: [N/A] - Not Applicable to Battled Armor. Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [+A] - This battled armor definitely looks like the cartoon Vehicle's Cartoon looks alike: [+A] - Same as previous statement. Special Notes: Here are "3" minor Special Notes that I think you should know: 1 - When clipping the rear leg armor, start with the bottom clip and then the top. 2 - To avoid the paint scratch on the front of the Super Fast Pack when sliding to reveal the inner missile, be sure to use a narrow and flat head object not a sharp head object. 3 - Assigning the proper sticker number to your jet or fast pack: (DYRL - based on Macross: "Do You Remember Love" movie version. TV - based on the TV version). For Roy Focker/ Fokker: DYRL = 001, 1S, Black Skull logo on the fast pack. TV
= 001, 1S, Macross logo on the fast pack. Overall Grade: [+A] - The Super and Strike Fast Pack is extremely beautiful to pass up. So if you have multiple VF-1 and you are broke or don't think it worth that much. You don't need to purchase the Fast Pack for every of your VF-1, just purchase one and make all them share the Fast Pack. In deed their price is kind of mad, but I'll at least try to purchase one set so this way you'll know what it's like and how great they are.
