Laura's Pictures
This is Laura's braggin' page! Here are some of the horses and ponies that she has shown. Her favorite was Whos That Girl/Tags Girl (also known as Phyllis)--a sorrel overo paint/pinto mare. Showing at the New York state Pinto shows, Phyllis and Laura earned three ROM's (registers of merit--35 points and a 1st place in one class) in Youth Western Pleasure, Youth Western Showmanship, and Youth Halter. By doing so, the pair earned their Pinto Youth Championship in 1993.
The last year Laura showed Phyllis was 1994, and this was their best year of all. They won High-Point Horse-of-the-Year for the St.Lawrence Valley Horsemans Association; represented Lewis County 4-H at the New York State Fair (placing in all their classes--Hunt seat and Western--including a 1st place in Sr. Western Pleasure!); and won other various high-points and awards. Phyllis was sold to a friend of the family shortly after, where she went on to win other awards.
Laura is planning to have another "full-size" horse in the next couple years...after her Paralegal degree is completed! Meanwhile, she is showing the farms minis and ponies, and teaching the next generation to ride...her two-year old daughter, Emma. Emma has her own pinto pony, Becky, that she rides, and if she's anything like her mother...better get the trailer ready 'cause she'll be hitting the road for the shows!
