This past week we mourned the passing of one of the true greats of our indusrty. I am refering to Teddy Petty, who most of you would now as Rocco Rock, one half of the tag team Public Enemy.
When the final chapter in the history book of wrestling is written, perhaps the world will know that we lost one of the true innovators this past week. I remember way back in 1993, I went to what may have been my first indy wrestling show. There were a few familiar names on that card. Men such as Greg Valentine and The Honky Tonk Man. There was one person, however, that stole the show on that day... In more ways than one. That man was The Cheetah Kid. The world would get to know him better a few years later as one half of "The Mack Daddies of Violence" Public Enemy. Of course, I am talking about, Teddy Petty (Rocco Rock). Here was a man who was doing things such as Moonsaults, Topes, Planchas, and Hurricanranas. This was 1993! Nobody in American wrestling was doing these types of maneauvers at that time. Needless to say, he was way ahead of his time in that regard. While it is true that his performance that day did, in fact, amaze me. It was the brief meeting I had with him after the show that always stuck with me. Some of the more established stars were less than kind to the sparse crowd on that day. Not The Cheetah Kid, however. He took his time to talk to just about everyone. He answered my questions in an honest manner, instead of the "in character" method that was the norm in those times. I never forgot that. When I saw that he had resurfaced on a more national scale as a founding father of ECW, I was thrilled for him. I truly thought he deserved it. Upon being notified of his passing, I felt in some way, I lost a friend and mentor of sorts. I say this because I have always tried to be the same way with fans at our shows, and our message boards. Why? You may ask. The answer is really quite simple. Because that's the way The Cheetah Kid was with me. Godspeed Teddy. I can truly say my world was a better place for having you in it.
One of the hottest young stars on the scene today, Mercedes Martinez was featured this past Thursday in the local Waterbury newpaper (Republican- American). Not only was Mercedes profiles, but Jason Knight and his all new PowerStation Pro Wrestling DOJO & Gym were also profiled. I'm not sure how long this link will be good for, but here is the online version of the story: http://www.rep-am.com/accent/45p7.htm

IWA Mid South
IAN AND CORP TO DO BATTLE, DEATH MATCH STYLE!! CM PUNK TO RETURN TO THE IWA RING!! IWA 6TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW THIS SATURDAY NIGHT!!
IWA Mid-South returned to the New IWA Arena in Clarksville, IN this past Saturday night, September 28th. Here are your results, courtesy of ExtremeLoco...
Show opened with Ian Rotten giving some announcements about the 6th Anniversary Show next week. I'll post some of the matches after the quick results. There was then a 10 bell salute for Flyboy Rocco Rock.. and Ian said a couple stories about Flyboy.
Nate Webb vs. Tarek The Great - Awesome lightweight action. A few highflying moves and alot of stretching. Tarek beat Nate after a neckbreaker type move. If it's Tarek's finisher I dont know the name of it.
Uncle Honkey vs. Rollin' Hard - Alot of comedy in this match. Honkey thought he was tough and posed alot. Honkey messed up when he tried to climb the ropes several times. Finally when Honkey got on the ropes Rollin' hit a version of a Death Vally Driver kinda, and got the win.
IWA Heavyweight Title Chris Hero vs. Al Jackson - (Hotstuff) Hernandaz didn't show it seemed, but still this was a good match. Al Jackson had some decent mic skills.. and it seems by the way he talked the Lynch Mob is the one who brought him to the IWA. For the match itself..Straight up wrestling, no bullshit. Well besides Jackson leaving the ring every 50 seconds for a few moments. Chris Hero hit the Heros Welcome out of no where for the victory.
Ian Rotten & Tracy Smothers vs. Cash Flo and Corp Robinson - Started off with controversy if Tracy was gonna be trustworthy or not. Even after Tracy accidently hit Ian a few times. Corp would never tag in when Ian Rotten was in the ring.. alot of chants went up cause of it. After alot of straight up wrestling and tags in and tags out.. the brawling happened. Blood was spilt on Corp and Ian but I dont think Tracy or Cash bled. It ended when Cash tried for the Oh Shit Leg Drop.. and missed. Ian then hit the double arm DDT. -- Corp than challenged Ian to a Deathmatch next week. Ian declined at first... but Patti gave him the go ahead.. so it will be Ian and Corp in a Deathmatch next week. And also Tracy challenged Cash Flo to a Street Fight next week.
Huge Rouge vs. Necro Butcher - Just straight out brawling and using weapons. To a barbedwire whip.. to like a garden tool.. a barbedwire stick/bat... and of course light tubes. Necro was the bloodiest but still took the victory after a hard fought weapons match.
IWA Mid-South Hardcore Wrestling proudly presents its Sixth Anniversary Show this coming Saturday night, October 5th at the New IWA Arena (1390 Woerner Avenue). Bell time is 8pm. Tickets will be available at the door.

One of the biggest things going on right now here in JAP is the return of WWE Superstar Jerry "The King" Lawler. On Friday night Nov 8, 2002 The King will battle former JAP Heavyweight Champion Slyk Wagner Brown who will have April Hunter in his corner. Brown has told JAP he will be the new King of Wrestling after he hits Lawler with a piledriver for the 1-2-3 in Bayonne, NJ.
Is blood thicker then water? Not for JAP Light Heavyweight Champion Dixie and The Insane Dragon. These two brothers have so much hatred for each other, its hard to tell they are related. They will meet one on one in a Lumberjack strap match on Nov 8th in Bayonne. Wrestlers will surround the ring with leather straps and belts. If a wrestler is to leave the ring for any reason, that wrestler will be whipped by everyone surrounding the ring. There must be a pinfall winner. No DQ or count-out.
JAP Tag Team Champions Da Hit Squad leave for Big Japan Wrestling this Sunday, November 6, 2002, along with JAP Heavyweight Champion Homicide. They will be wrestling for ROH on Saturday in South Philly.
Looks like Pete from Tough Enough II is now involved in his very 1st pro wrestling feud with Skinhead Ivan. On Sept 20, 2002 at The Charity Hall, Skinhead Ivan was having a few problems with his manager The Sheik and other Devastation Inc. member Striker, when Pete cam out to watch Ivan's back all 3 of them attacked him. This is going to be a grudge match in Bayonne on Nov 8th.
Former JAP Light Heavyweight Champion Ric "Fn" Blade has not been seen or heard from since he attacked Rain on September 13th in Bayonne, NJ. Is Blade waiting for the right time to attack? Rain should put Blade on the back burner for now, since he has a shot at a lifetime as he takes on JAP Heavyweight Champion Homicide on Nov 8th in a Pin The Champ Challenge.

I would like to thank Jerry Lynn for making a surprise appearance at The Jersey All Pro Wrestling Academy last night. If you only could see the look on the faces of the new students when he walked though the door.
The students were able to get pointers from one of the top wrestlers in the world today. Even current JAP Wrestlers such as Eddie Thomas, Dixie, Deranged, Insane Dragon, Sheik, and Homicide were able to workout and get pointers from Lynn.
You never know who is going to show up at The JAP Wrestling Academy.
For only $15.00 a week you can't go wrong. If any fans are interested in giving pro wrestling a shot, contact FATFRKJAP1@AOL.COM
Workers, we haven't forgotten about you. A lot of workers from the NY/NJ indy scene have been showing up looking to get back in shape. We have 2 rings, so you will always get ring-time.
New England Championship Wrestling
In just a few short days, New England Championship Wrestling returns to live action as Budweiser and the Boston Metro present NECW’s AUTUMN UNLEASHED, Friday night, October 4th at Good Time Emporium, 30 Assembly Square Drive in Somerville, MA. Bell time is 8:00 p.m.
The last several NECW cards have played to packed houses and this Friday night's card is another night of pro wrestling that is not to be missed!
AUTUMN UNLEASHED is topped by a huge double main event. The first half is a tag team grudge match pitting NECW Heavyweight Champion, “The Golden Greek” Alex Arion and former champion Slyk Wagner Brown (accompanied by April Hunter) against former NECW Champion, Maverick Wild and “The Alpha Male” Justin Powers. Both teams have heated issues with the other– Arion is locked in a bitter feud with Maverick Wild and Powers has gotten under the skin of SWB and April Hunter. It will be an explosive confrontation this Friday night.
The second half of this double main event is a special transatlantic challenge match. NECW welcomes back the current British Heavyweight Champion, “The Anarchist” Doug Williams as he faces the two time former NECW champion, “Brutal” Bob Evans in a battle for pride, honor and respect.
The newly crowned NECW Tag Team Champions, The Egomaniacs (Johnny Idol & Mike Steele, managed by Scott Dickinson) will make their first defense of those titles against a new team called The Mix (Kid Trance and Chad Storm) making their NECW debut.
The controversy surrounding the tag team title belts which were stolen by The One Night Stand (Edward G. Xtasy & Ronnie D. Lishus) after losing a semi-final tournament bout will be resolved at AUTUMN UNLEASHED as the ONS have agreed to return the belts and publicly apologize in the ring this Friday night.
In a special return women’s grudge match, the popular Mercedes Martinez, reluctantly managed by Scott Dickinson, will once again face “The Fabulous Firebird” Phoenix from Toronto’s AWF. Last time, Dickinson’s interference cost Martinez the match via disqualification and the Latin diva is out to redeem herself.
In a special Ring of Honor bout, tag team partners Chris Divine and Quiet Storm (Divine Storm) will face each other in a special challenge match.
The athletic aristocrat, Zaqary Springate III, returns to in-ring action taking on the sensational Antonio Thomas and Joey Knight, one half of popular Canadian duo, The All Knighters, sees singles action for the first time in NECW against “No Respect” Aaron Morrison.
Plus, former World Bodybuilding Champion, Melissa Coates will be making an appearance.
In addition, legendary ring announcer, Gary Michael Capetta will be on hand making a special appearance. Capetta will have copies of his book “Bodyslams!” which has received rave reviews from fans and critics, for sale as well as autographed photos.
Tickets for NECW’s AUTUMN UNLEASHED are $15, kids under 12, students with ID and Club Metro members can buy tickets for $9 at the door. Advance tickets and information can be had by visiting our website at New England Championship Wrestling
