National Wrestling Alliance: News
The following is a statement by one of the former NWA Board Of Directors, Howard Brody:
"Effective 11:45 this morning, I tendered my resignation to the National Wrestling Alliance Board of Directors. While I will remain a member of the NWA and hope to help it grow in other ways, I have made the very difficult decision to step away from the duties that go along with being a member of the Board.
While some people may jump to the conclusion that this decision was based upon a conflict I may have with another member, rest assured it is not.
Because I am facing a very strenuous personal situation right now, the next several weeks and months will be very trying and taxing on me as I will be making many life changing decisions. I must have time to heal these personal wounds and unfortunately with the current situation, I do not have the time nor do I have the inclination to dedicate the necessary and mandatory effort that is needed to be a successful board member.
By the good grace of G-d, and depending on how my life unfolds over the next eleven months, I hope to be in Corpus Christi next October for the NWA annual convention, and as long as everything in my life is in order, I will not only seek re-election to the Board of Directors, but I will vigorously seek re-election to the presidency as well.
In the meantime, I ask that you fully support the current BOD and their efforts to make the NWA a better organization.
I remain respectfully,
Howard T. Brody"

ORLANDO, Nov. 9, 2001 - - Pro wrestling's hottest stars of today, as well as the top talent of tomorrow, have joined forces to launch the XWF, a new pro wrestling league that promises to bring back all of the tradition, excitement and fan-friendly activities that seem to have been missing in recent years from one of America's favorite pastimes.
The XWF will debut with the taping of 10 hours of TV programming on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 13-14, 2001, at Universal Studios, Orlando. Tickets are free, and can be reserved by calling: 407/224-5871. Details are not yet available for when the shows will air on TV.

Also on the XWF team are such all-time pro wrestling favorites as Jerry "The King" Lawler, "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, plus announcers Tony Schiavone and David Penzer.
Looking to the future, the XWF has signed some of the top young talent from around the world, including 6'9"-360 lb. Hail, "The British Storm" Ian Harrison, European Giant Drezden, Puerto Rico's Ray Gonzales, The Shane Twins, Kid Krash, Juventud Guerrera, Psychosis and Chris Daniels.
"We want to bring professional wrestling back to the fans - - the folks who helped make pro wrestling great, but who seem to have been forgotten in recent years," stated Ludwell Denny, Executive Chairman of the XWF. "We believe that by presenting the public with a cast of world-renowned wrestlers and personalities, while simultaneously signing and developing new talent that rivals the old heroes in skill, size and ability, we will provide pro wrestling fans with a new league of their very own!" added John Flood, President of the XWF.
The XWF opens with offices in Tampa, FL, and New York City. Denny is Chairman of Planet E-Shop, which operates in conjunction with the Hinduja Group the first and only live shopping channel in India. Planet E-Shop is also developing a similar live shopping channel in China. Flood is a former NFL Properties president who in his 10-plus year tenure with NFLP helped pump it up into a multi-million dollar business.
After leaving NFLP, Flood founded OldIron Sports & Entertainment in 1998. He will be based in New York, along with director of licensing John Larney and marketing manager Will Bishop. Among the XWF management team members working out of Tampa will be Mike Lima, director of live arena events, Janie Engle, Kevin Sullivan and costume designer Sandra Gray.
