Chapter Four

The two guys that Amanda passed pulled into the space that she left outside of Nick's house.

Nick was still standing outside looking at Amanda's car as it drove away and didn't even notice his two visitors until they were right in front of him.

"Hey, Nick. Is all the food gone?"

"Howie, I usually expect Nick to be saying that, not you." Kevin was laughing.

"I want to know who that cute girl was in the car that you can't take your eyes off of."

Nick blinked and then grinned at his friends.

"That is Amanda, and she is going to be B.J.'s tutor in English. She goes to Tampa State."

"Are you all going to just stand out there or are you coming in?" A.J. stood in the doorway.

The three guys walked inside while they pestered Nick for information about Amanda.

Inside, the five guys gathered in the family room after Howie and Kevin got something to eat.

They were supposed to be talking about their upcoming plans for the group, but the main topic of conversation was Amanda.

Finally, Kevin brought the discussion back to their plans.

As they were leaving, Brian slapped his hand to his forehead.

"I forgot to get Amanda to sign those books for me."

But Nick reminded him about her tutoring job and that she would be back. Then the two newcomers who didn't meet Amanda demanded to know about the books.

After they explained, Nick finally got rid of the four of them so he could go to bed.

While he turned off the lights and locked up the house, Nick kept replaying the afternoon in his head.

He couldn't get Amanda out of his thoughts. I wonder if she knows about the Backstreet Boys. Probably not, he thought.

Most of our fans are still in high school or younger. He grimaced. Not that I don't like our fans, but it would be nice to have some more our own age… I bet Kevin would like that too.

Yawning, he crawled into bed and fell asleep.

Amanda was on all the guys' minds' as they drove home.

Howie and Kevin discussed how much this girl affected their friends, but since they didn't meet her, they talked of other things.

A.J. was still fuming over the fact that both Brian and Nick liked Amanda.

Sometimes, there would be a girl who would come between them, but usually they weren't attracted to the same girls.

He could tell that Amanda was different.

Brian was wondering why he didn't let Nick tell her about the group.

In retrospect, he saw that she could have handled it. If she was a fan…

Oh, man! I didn't even think about that! What if she hates the BSB? What if she has never even heard of the group? She shared all of that about her books, and then I wouldn't let Nick tell about us. She is definitely not going to like this when she finds out.

Exasperated with where his thoughts were taking him, he drove home and went to bed.
