Amanda climbed into her car and just sat there for a few minutes. She was glad that she made it through that presentation.
I think that it was harder because I knew some of the guys. Sighing, she started up her car and headed home. I wonder why the guys seemed so jumpy today. I wouldn't think that they would be as nervous as I would be for something like this.
When she turned onto her street, she noticed a cab sitting at the curb. She pulled into the driveway and walked into the house.
There were suitcases all over the entryway, and the cab driver was bringing in the last few. All that luggage could only belong to one person:
"George! Where are you?"
Georgia, a.k.a. George, walked into the entryway and paid the cabbie.
"I'm right here, Mandie! I can't believe that I am finally home!"
Both girls grabbed each other for a big hug.
"It's been too long Georgie. But how was your tour?"
"Fabulous, abs fab in fact. But I plan on being in a bad mood for awhile so I don't have to smile." George joked.
She was, in fact, the Miss Georgia. And she would be competing in the Miss USA pageant in a few weeks.
She just returned from a long tour of public appearances throughout the state of Georgia, even appearing on talk shows.
It's not every year that the winner has the same name as the state she represents.
"Well, I am glad that you are back. This house has been too empty with you gone."
"Oh, listen to the writer: waxing poetic again." They both laughed and started to carry George's things upstairs.
"Amanda, you are all dressed up. What have you been doing this morning?"
"I had a meeting, but I want to tell everyone at the same time tonight. We'll have one of our Dinners."
"Sounds good to me. I am so sick of hotel and airline food, that I was considering developing an eating disorder all my own: ican'teata thisshita."
"That's not funny!" But Amanda couldn't stop laughing, and George laughed with her.
"Now, let's get my stuff upstairs and find out where the others are."
