Teachers I believe are the gateway
to not only learning, but how we view ourselves
and others. They are the open arms of Knowledge
which each child embraces with curiosity and bewilderment.
My son had such a difficult time adjusting
to moving and his new school,
until he met Ms. Shelley.
This poem is for her :)
Like the flowers in your garden,
You plant the learning seed.
You till the soil perparing,
To plant the seedling me.
Your gentle sowing loves me,
This seedling wants to grow.
And each new step of learning,
With beeming pride I show.
You water, weed and nurture
Making roots grow deep,
You patiently teach me skills,
That throughout my life I keep.
You shield me from rain,
Protecting at all cost.
Encouraging each new child,
Self esteem is never lost.
The morning sun is warming,
As the rays reach down to me.
And finally I am blooming,
This flower is now free.
When you look out to your garden,
In awe of what you see.
Remember each new bloom,
Was once a child like me.
