ALL-STARS: If you could visit any time period, what era would you choose?
DANNY WOOD: I would go to the future - about 50 years. You know about the past.
AS: Who would you take?
DW: Just me - and my vitamins.
AS: Do you work out everyday?
DW: Six days a week. I've got to take a day off - you know, recuperation time.
AS: Tell us a secret about yourself. People would be surprised to know that…
DW: People would be surprised to know that - I don't want to say anything corny. People would be surprised to know that I have a favorite girl.
AS: You do?
DW: Yes.
AS: We'll leave it at that.
DW: No, don't leave it at that 'cause then they're going to think that I have a girlfriend. It's my niece. She's 16 months old!
AS: What's her name?
DW: Daniella.
AS: Is she named after you?
DW: There's a little story to that, but it's personal.
AS: Is there some place where you haven't been yet that you want to visit?
DW: I want to go to a Caribbean island where the beach is white, the water's blue, and I can rent a little house - a crib - and get a top-down jeep rolling with some girls in it.
AS: What type of music have you been listening to lately?
DW: It depends where I am. If I'm in my house at night, I like to listen to soft, slow music like Freddy Jackson, Peabo Bryson, James Ingram and stuff like that. But if I'm in my jeep, I listen to rap like Digital Underground and L.L. Cool J.
AS: Do you have a message for your fans?
DW: Don't believe all the bull.
AS: How do you deal with the negative press about the New Kids?
DW: I look at it this way - if you're popular in school, people will usually talk about you. No matter if you're the most popular person in school or the most popular group in the music business, people are going to try to bring you down. It isn't affecting me. It doesn't faze me.
AS: Where do you see your music heading in the future?
DW: We're just going to continue doing the music that we like - the music that comes from our hearts and the music that we want to do at that time.
AS: Is there something that you haven't bought yet, that you want to buy?
DW: I'm not very materialistic. Maybe a house on the beach with about 800 girls to go with it.
AS: We heard that you like to see "Danny" banners in the crowd.
DW: If I see a sign that says "I love Danny" or something like that, it kind of hits me a little bit differently because I'm not the most popular guy in the group. But that's cool 'cause I take it as it comes. When someone goes out of their way and has a sign for me, I make it a point to make eye contact. The whole show that's what I do - make googly faces at girls. It's fun! That's what it's all about.
AS: How can you tell if a girl likes you for you?
DW: Even a fan can like you for you - if they're more into you and not asking where the other guys are and asking lots of questions about the group. Before I was a New Kid, if a girl was getting into me, she just liked me. It's the same thing. If she just wants to know about you, then she wants to know you for you.
AS: Does performing still get you hyped?
DW: We do it every night, so sometimes before a show, I'll be half asleep. But once I hit that stage, it's new all over again - it's fun all over again.
AS: Did you get a lot of letters about your sex/love quote in the latest picture book, 'New Kids on the Block'?
DW: No. I just spoke on what I felt. I think sex should be taken seriously. Sex is life and death these days.
