Donnie Wahlberg Not Going Around Block Again

NY Daily News - Dec. 30, 1998

DONNIE WAHLBERG is turning thumbs down on offers to re-form The New Kids on the Block. "I've been asked to do a reunion album, as well as a solo album," says the singer-turned actor. He notes that some five years after the demise of New Kids, "I get thousands of letters from fans of the group, and fans park themselves in front of my house in Boston."

Donnie is flattered by it all, but makes it clear that that life is behind him now. "I have been helping out two of the guys from the group -- I wrote and produced two songs for Joe McIntyre and produced two songs for Jordan Knight. But until the guys have experienced success outside the band, they won't be ready for a reunion the right way. And I'm not ready. I don't really want to be singing and dancing right now. I'm focusing on my acting and it's easy to be perceived as flaky by producers if you're not committed to one thing."
