Worth the Wait

by: Rachael

Rachael had just moved into Donnie's affluent Braintree neighborhood. As a matter of fact, she moved in across the street. Donnie recognized her immediately and decided he had to meet her, so he made his way over and knocked on the door.

"Hello," said Rachael as she answered the door. "Hi," said Donnie "I'm Donnie, your new neighbor," he said as he extended his hand. "Well, hello," said Rachael as she shook his hand, "you're very modest, Mr. Wahlberg." "Well, I don't like to assume," said Donnie, embarrassed and red-faced. "That's okay, I like modest. It was very sweet of you to introduce yourself." " Well, if you need anything, don't hesitate to call," he said as he handed her his phone number. "Thank you, I will," said Rachael as she took the piece of paper. And with that, Donnie smiled and headed across the street.

Several months of "hellos," "good-byes," went by before Rachael and Donnie had a real conversation. Donnie saw Rachael washing her car and decided to come over for a chat. "Hello," he said as he saw her bent over the hood. "Hi!" said Rachael happily as she turned around. "What brings you here?" "Well, I saw you washing your car and wanted to say "hello." "Actually, I'm lying. The truth is, I thought you were beautiful from the moment I saw you and wanted to ask you out the first day we met. But I thought that was too forward. I thought getting to know you would be better, but our conflicting schedules won't permit it. So, what I want to know is, will you have dinner with me tonight?" Rachael smiled. "With all due respect, Donnie, I don't think I'm your type." "What do you mean by that?" said Donnie, confused. "I am not a wild and crazy swing-from-the-chandeliers type of girl...I am actually quite conservative." "Well, who said I was into those kind of women?" said Donnie. "Well, no one-maybe I have assumed too much-but you just seem like that kind of guy." "Why don't you let me take you out, and then you can decide," said Donnie as he smiled. "All right," said Rachael "What time should I be ready and how should I dress?" "Wear something classy and sexy and I will be over at 8:00." "Okay, I will see you then." They then said their good-byes and parted ways.

Rachael looked through her closet with great frustration. What in the world was she going to wear? After all, she wasn't lying when she called herself conservative. Her closet was full of Laura Ashley and Ralph Lauren. She wouldn't know sexy if it smacked her across the head. Suddenly, she had and idea. She called her wild and crazy friend Tracy-she was sure to have some sexy yet classy dresses in her wardrobe. Within 20 minutes, Tracy was ringing Rachael's doorbell. "Hey girly!" said Tracy when Rachael opened the door. "Hi, sweetie," said Rachael as she gave Tracy a hug. "Thanks for doing this. You are a lifesaver." "No problem," said Tracy, "anything for you. By the way, who are you going out with?" You never said." "Donnie Wahlberg," Rachael said nonchalantly. "DONNIE WAHLBERG! You don't seem excited about it," said Tracy. "Well, I just don't think we have anything in common. I guess I will find out tonight." "Oh, Rachael," said Tracy "I am sure you will get along famously...no pun intended!" Both women burst out laughing. "So, Trac, what did you bring me?" "Well, let me show you." Tracy then pulled out a black, shimmery jersey dress and a pair of black stiletto high heels. "Oh my god!" exclaimed Rachael, "I don't know if I can pull it off. Do you think Donnie will like it?" " I think Donnie will want to take you to the Four Seasons Hotel after he sees you in this," said Tracy. "You'll look great. Don't worry. Well, I have to go-I have to work the nightshift tonight." "Thank you so much, Trac. I do appreciate this." "No problem. Now, get dressed and call me in the morning with all the details." "I will, I will," said Rachael. The friends then said their good-byes and Rachael got dressed.

Rachael quickly slipped into the dress, which fit her like a glove. She then put on her shoes, curled her hair and put her makeup on. Afterward, she went to a full-length mirror for a quick examination. She was actually pleased with the way she looked. Suddenly, she heard a knock on the door. "Donnie," she thought. She quickly ran downstairs and toward the door. When she opened the door, she found out she was right. It was Donnie. And he looked Gorgeous in a black suit. He really liked her dress and didn't hesitate to tell her so. "You look stunning...very sexy," he said. "Thank you," said Rachael, delighted that he loved the dress. "Are you ready to go?" said Donnie "Yes." Having said that, Rachael grabbed her purse and they were out the door.

As soon as they got in Donnie's car, Rachael turned to him and said "So, where are you taking me?" "To one of my favorite restaurants in Boston, "Luca Bella," they have the best Italian food." "Are you serious? I love Italian food. When I was in college, I practically lived off of it." Donnie smiled and said, " Good. I certainly wouldn't want to take you somewhere you didn't want to go."

When they arrived at the restaurant, Rachael noticed something very strange: there were no cars in the parking lot. She suddenly began to feel strange. When they parked and got out of the car, Rachael decided to find out what was going on before she went in. "Do you think maybe they're closed?" she said, trying to sound calm. "No, why would you think that?" Donnie said. "Well," she began, "the parking lot is virtually empty." "I know-it's supposed to be this way-trust me." When they got to the front door, they were greeted by a man in a tuxedo. "Good evening, Mr. Wahlberg. And good evening to your lovely companion. Right this way." When they walked in the restaurant, Rachael noticed that it was completely empty. Then when she saw the table in the middle of the restaurant, she knew what was going on: the table was decorated with white tapered candles, two champagne glasses, the necessary dinnerware and a bottle of Moet. And sitting in front of one of the chairs was two dozen red roses with a red ribbon tied around them. Rachael smiled as she and Donnie were seated.

"I hope everything is to your liking," said Donnie as he looked into Rachael's eyes. "Everything's beautiful-I love it," she said. "Good, I'm glad you like it."

Shortly thereafter they ordered their food and started the beginning of a 3-hour conversation. Rachael was a little nervous at first, but the Moet helped her relax. Remembering what Rachael had thought of him before they went out, he wanted to see if she had changed her mind. "So, do you still think of me as a wild man?" he said, smiling. "I am so sorry, Donnie...I misjudged you. I hope my ignorance can be forgiven." "There's no need to apologize. I'll be right back, ok?" said Donnie as he got up. "Sure, no problem." Rachael saw Donnie go into a room that said "private," and when he returned he had only one question for Rachael. "Would you like to dance?" "But there's no-" before she could finish her sentence, soft and romantic music filled the air. "I would love to dance with you," she said as she took Donnie's hand. Donnie then pulled her body close to his and they began to move as one. At this point, Rachael felt as if she could dance with him forever.

After they finished dancing, they decided to leave. Rachael was feeling so good that the last place she wanted to go was home, but she knew it was inevitable. When they arrived at Rachael's and had made their way to the door, Rachael was filled with anxiety: what would happen next? Donnie then turned to her and said, "I just want to thank you for a wonderful evening. I had a lot of fun." "Me, too...No one has ever rented out an entire restaurant before...but I liked being alone with you." "I'm glad," said Donnie, "because I wanted you all to myself." Donnie then gave Rachael a soft, wet kiss on the lips. "Spend the night with me," he whispered. "I can't," she said, even though she was so wet she could put out a fire. "Well, why not?" said Donnie, disappointed. "Because, I want to take things slowly." "Okay, I can respect that. But don't think that will stop me from trying. Goodnight." Having said that, he gave her another soft kiss and they parted ways once again.

Rachael was awoken the next morning by her ringing doorbell. She slowly got out of bed, threw her robe on and went to answer the door. When she opened the door, all she could see was a pair of legs and a pair of hands holding a dozen white roses. When the roses were moved to the side, she could see the person who held them-who else but Donnie. "For you," said Donnie as he handed the roses over. "Donnie, these are gorgeous-thank you...come in, come in." Donnie came in and followed Rachael over to her black leather couch. "So, what are your plans for the day?" said Donnie. "Umm...nothing really. I am kind of a homebody." "Not anymore," said Donnie, "I am taking you out." "Are you asking me or telling me?" said Rachael as she smiled. "I'm asking you. I would really like to spend the day with you and I have our whole day planned out." "What do you have in mind?" "A little breakfast, shopping, lunch....and later on this evening we can go out to dinner and one of my favorite clubs." "Clubs? Donnie, I can't dance. I will embarrass you, not to mention myself. I really do have two left feet." Donnie let out a laugh and said "Don't worry about that, baby...I will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know." "Is that a fact?" "You had better believe it." "Well, alright, I'll go," Rachael said reluctantly.

After spending an entire day with Donnie, Rachael could only imagine what the evening would be like. Since she and Donnie had gone shopping earlier, she didn't have to call on Tracy for another dress. She pulled her outfit out of the bag and wondered what the hell she was thinking: a tube top and a micro miniskirt? She wasn't used to dressing that way, but Donnie's encouragement prompted her to buy it. She got dressed and ready for the evening. She then decided she would turn the tables on Donnie by showing up at HIS door.

When Donnie answered the door, he was doubly pleased: not only had Rachael come to his door, but she looked hot. "Damn, you look sexy," he said. "I bet you say that to all the girls," said Rachael, smiling. "That hurts!" said Donnie, half-joking. "Are you ready to go?" "Yeah, I'm ready...I just hope my dancing doesn't disappoint you." "Baby, you can't disappoint me," said Donnie as he grabbed her hand. They then headed to Axis, one of the hottest clubs in the city.

When they arrived at the club, they didn't have to wait in the mile-long line. Being a celebrity allowed Donnie to enter the club through the back door.

As Rachael looked around, she was amazed. There were scantily clad women everywhere and they all looked like models. The club was dark except for the flashing lights. And the body heat was unbelievable. Once they had made their way to the dance floor, Rachael became nervous. "Donnie, I don't know about this...I can't dance like these people." "Rachael, baby, just follow my lead and I will make you feel like we are the only two people in the room. Having said that, Donnie pulled her close and gave her a deep, passionate kiss. Then he softly kissed her neck and whispered, "Relax, just feel the music." He then started to move their bodies to the rhythm of the music. Rachael suddenly felt weak in the knees, but in a good way. She had suddenly forgotten about all the hundreds of people in the room. Rachael whispered in his ear. "You were right, you made me forget about everything. Why aren't you already taken?" "I guess I'm too much man for most women," he joked. "I'M SERIOUS!" said Rachael. "I have been in many meaningless relationships and so I decided to give myself to find the right woman." Rachael's heart melted. At that point, she had never wanted a man more. But she didn't know if she wanted to put her heart at risk.

After dancing until closing time, Donnie took Rachael back to his place for a nightcap. He poured two glasses of Cristal champagne and handed one to Rachael. "I really enjoyed myself tonight...dancing with you made me feel liberated. I haven't had that much fun since high school." "You also made me feel like the only woman in the world. Thank you for that." She then put her hands on Donnie's face, pulled him close and gently kissed his soft lips." Then, she suddenly began to cry. Donnie held her hands and asked her why she was crying. "I just feel like I'm dreaming and any moment I will wake up and find that you weren't real." "Don't say that, baby...I'm real...and I want you more than you know." He then moved his hands up her arms and to her neck, where he gently began to rub. "Donnie, don't...don't do that...you'll start something I can't finish." "Baby why?" said Donnie. "Because I've never been with a man, okay!" she said as tears rolled down her face. Then she felt stupid for revealing something so personal. "I'd better go," said Rachael as she got up to leave. As she tried to walk away, Donnie grabbed her hand and pulled her into his lap. "There's nothing to be ashamed of...you are beautiful and classy and there's nothing wrong with you. Experience is irrelevant. We all have to start somewhere. But if this isn't something you want to do, I will respect your decision." Surprisingly, Rachael sealed his words with another kiss. "I want you. Make love to me."

Donnie pulled Rachael even closer and began to kiss her neck. When he tried to go further, he was interrupted by someone he least expected-Rachael. "Donnie, I'm sorry, but I can't do this," she said as she pulled away from him. "Baby, what's wrong? Is it something I said?" "No. Look, I should go. Good night Having said that, tears began to roll down her face. "Well, let me walk you home," said Donnie, concerned. "I'll be fine, okay?" Rachael then grabbed her purse, which was on a nearby coffee table, and left.

When Rachael got home, she spent the whole night crying. She had mixed emotions about the evening. Why didn't she let him make love to her? Why was she about to sleep with a man she had only dated twice? These thoughts kept her awake almost all night.

Rachael was so humiliated that, when she awoke the next morning, she didn't even want to go to work. So she called Tracy for a shoulder to cry on. "Hello?" said Tracy when she answered the phone. "Tracy-you will never believe what happened last night...I almost had sex with him!" "What? what do you mean almost? The man is hot like fire. What happened?" " I don't know. Maybe it was my lack of experience...the though of disappointing him...the fact that we had only dated twice....anyway, we were about to, you know, and I stopped it and left. Donnie must hate me." "Honey," Tracy began, "he doesn't hate you. I am sure he understands, but you need to work it out so that he knows where you're coming from." "I know, but I don't know if I can look him in the eyes," said a tearful Rachael. "Well, do whatever you feel is right. I will be here if you need me." After hanging up with Tracy, Rachael headed off to work.

When Rachael got home, she noticed a note had been taped to her front door. So she took the note off the door and read it. The note read:

Dearest Rachael,
I am very sorry about last night. I
hope I did not push you away. The last thing I want is for you to be upset.
Please come and see me after you read this note. It's important that we talk.
But, before you do, go inside the house.

Now very curious, Rachael put the note in her purse and opened the front door. When she looked around, she could not believe her eyes. There were roses EVERYWHERE! Red ones, white ones, yellow ones, pink ones. And there were rose petals scattered all over the floor. Rachael almost died right there. She thought Donnie would never want to see her again, but here he was, sending her flowers.

Rachael quickly rushed over to Donnie's house. When he answered the door, he saw a smiling Rachael. "The flowers are beautiful and you are amazingly sweet and understanding. Thank you. I am really sorry about last night. I guess I was scared and unsure. It had nothing to do with you. Please believe that." "There's no need to apologize. We don't have to rush into anything. When you're ready, so am I," said Donnie, sincerely.

6 months had past and although the two had not consummated their relationship, Donnie and Rachael were still going strong.

"Happy birthday!" cried Tracy when Rachael phoned her. "Thank you," said Rachael, beaming. "So, what is the birthday girl doing for her birthday?" "I don't even know. I haven't thought about it because I have been so busy, with my new promotion and all. My boss is relentless when it comes to getting things done. But I will let you know if I have plans." "Okay," said Tracy.

After a long day at work, Rachael walked to her car, took her keys out and began to open the door when someone came up behind her. "Oh my-," she gasped. Before she could turn around, a familiar voice relaxed her. "Rachael, baby, it's just me," said Donnie. "Donnie! You scared me to death! You're lucky I love you or I would have clobbered you with my handbag!," said Rachael as she laughed. "What are you doing here?" "It's your birthday, is it not? I am taking you out!" "Really? But I am hardly dressed for the occasion." "That's why, with the help of your good friend Tracy, I have picked out the perfect dress. Now go back inside and put it on. I know you'll look sexy and edible." "I really don't deserve you, " said Rachael as she took the dress and went back inside.

When Rachael changed and came outside, she saw a black Mercedes stretch limo in the parking lot. She didn't know who it was for until she saw Donnie emerge from the back. "A limo?" said Rachael with sheer delight. "Absolutely. I want you to have the best because you are the best." "I love you, so much," said Rachael, her eyes beginning to water. "I love you, too," said Donnie as he escorted her to the limo.

The limo ride was long, but because she was with Donnie, Rachael didn't mind. But this didn't stop her from trying to pump him for information. "So, are you gonna tell me where we're going?" "No. But you won't be disappointed. That's all I can say," said Donnie.

After 4 hours, they finally reached their destination: The Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey. (Writer's note: I really don't know how long the drive would be so I just made one up...just play along!...lol). When the car pulled up in front of the hotel, Rachael turned to Donnie. "How did you know?" "Well, you have wonderful friends. I asked Tracy to tell me something you'd always wanted to do and she said that you've always wanted to come to Atlantic City and stay in the Taj Mahal hotel." "Tracy's the best. You're the best. I love you. I really can't say it enough." "The smile on your face says it all, baby. I love you, too."

Hours of gambling and sightseeing passed before Rachael and Donnie decided to retire to their hotel, where a candlelit lobster dinner awaited them.

"Oh, my god. I have never had so much fun in my life," said Rachael. "Thank you for making this day so special." "You're welcome, baby," said Donnie as he gave her a sweet kiss on the lips.

They finished their dinner and Rachael commented on how much she enjoyed it. Then, Donnie turned to Rachael and said, " Look, don't feel obligated to stay any longer. You can go your room anytime you want." Donnie had gotten separate rooms so Rachael wouldn't feel uncomfortable or obligated to do anything. Not responding to what Donnie had just said, she said, "Um, I have to go to the bathroom. I will be right back."

When Rachael emerged from the bathroom, Donnie almost fell off the bed when he saw what she was wearing: thigh-highs, a sheer pair of black underwear, stiletto high heels...and nothing else. "I thought I'd spend the night in here," she said without hesitation.

Rachael climbed on the bed with Donnie and he looked in her eyes for a moment before whispering, "Are you sure you want this?" "Let me put it this way," said Rachael, "if I wanted it any more, you'd have to call the fire department to hose me down. I love you and I want this more than I want anything. You have made me so happy and I want to give myself to you...completely."

Donnie and Rachael began to kiss, their tongues filling each other's warm mouths. When their lips separated, Donnie began to slowly kiss and lick on her perfume-scented neck. He then moved down to her erect nipples and played with them before covering one with his entire mouth and the other with his hand, which he used to gently squeeze. Rachael, trying not to lose control, let out a gentle moan. Donnie then proceeded to remove her thigh-highs slowly, one-by-one. Then her panties-which were drowning in her desire for Donnie. All that was left were the heels. "Aren't you going to remove my shoes?" said Rachael. "No," said Donnie "I love it when a woman digs her heels into my back." He then removed his clothes and tossed them on the floor. Donnie got back on the bed and on top of Rachael. He then held her hand as he entered her. She had never felt such intense pleasure...or pain at the same time. Donnie began to thrust, gently and built up to a speed that simultaneously sent them both over the edge. Tears ran down her face as Donnie exploded inside of her. Donnie cleared her tears away with his tongue. "I love you so much, baby," said Donnie as he held her. "I love you, too...you make me so happy. I love the fact that you loved me enough to wait for me." " No baby, you've got it all wrong," said Donnie, "I was waiting with you, not for you....and it was so worth it."
